Thread title should be "Canada in Europe", they're in Scotland just now playing an Intercontinental Cup match and 2 ODIs.

Canada 182-8 chasing 238 ... Cheema did all the hard work with a fast 90, the rest are screwing it up.

Followed the match through CricketEurope in between a trip to the hospital to visit my mum and a frolic through the park. Solid win, nothing more then expected imo. Another good bowling performance from Schiferli, good innings from Kervezee.

Too bad these matches are scheduled on weekend days, as I'm then occupied with my parenting duties. A weekday ignoring the workplace and instead watching the cricket would have been a far better option for me.

second match rained off before the toss. Dutch take the series 1-0. Expect them to be hammered in the Cup match, though.

Is everybody leaving (as usual)
Yes, the Cup squad is basically a "Lions"-type side:

Wesley Barresi, Peter Borren, Mudassar Bukhari, Daan van Bunge, Tom de Groot, Mark Jonkman, Bart Schilperoord, Pieter Seelaar, Nick Statham. Eric Szwarzcynksi, Berend Westdijk.

Any new Cricket Stadiums coming up from top Associates? I guess its high time Ireland should have one (Atleast 10,000 Cap) dedicated Cricket stadium before pushing for Test Status.

Haha, don't expect such a thing over here. The VRA ground in Amstelveen does not have any permanent stands and that's good enough for the normal attendance at a Dutch game.

U can't expect people to come in without proper infrastracture. No Infrastracture - No Marketing - No attendence.

one cannot fetishize infrastructure by number of xtjhousand specialist grounds. They will be a burden if nobody turns up to use them. First spread the game so there's 10,000 people wanting to see the team's games then build towards that.

There are a being developed a few more grasspitches in the netherlands, one is at VCC(my old club) where they own a whole cricket complex with 2 pitches and it;s for cricket and athletics club only.
it has potential to be build into something bigger when time demands it.

expect a draw, maybe holland snatching a win.

I think Nannes will only play for the Dutch on high-profile occasions like World Cups and ODI's against full members (if the KNCB can ever get around to arranging them).

The Dutch going fairly well, btw, Canada 138/7 now, Seelaar 3/40 and Borren 3/37 the pick of the bowlers so far.

That's a bit rubbish from him in that case, a fair-weather Dutchman. It's one thing asking counties to release big players for these matches, but if the big players themselves aren't going to take them seriously that's a shame.

Looks like it's the spinners for Canada that are doing the damage here.
