Nah, we have the IPL, that is enough, plus all the other cricket we have.

Like it or not, T20 is here to stay. The game will generate no significant revenue if Tests were all that got played. Adam Gilchrist summed things up perfectly in his Cowdrey lecture. |

It doesn't bother me how much T20 cricket is played, as long as test cricket doesn't get cut back (there isn't enough test cricket as it is). The more of these stupid T20 tournaments popping up everywhere and the more chance we will see test cricket suffer.

And i'm not entirely sure what you're getting at. I don't care about this "SPL" and hope it never gets off the ground

If it replaced both nations current T20 competitions then fine. If it doesn't then I don't want international players anywhere near it. Its all academic now of course.
My only problem would have been the injury prone internationals like Oram and Bond playing in two T20 tournaments that are non BC related every year, along with their other commitments.

Why not just completely decouple T20's from other international cricket, shift the game to a series of agreeable International Premier leagues, (IPL,SPL, EPL) however many can be fit in a calendar year and then reduce International T20 matches to the one marquee t20 World cup ever 2/4 years? It would make T20 what it probably was meant to be in the first place. Cricket equivalent to Rugby sevens.
Then on tours National teams can focus on test and ODI cricket whilst those players, can decide (depending on how much they think their International career is likely to be successful in whatever format of the game) to either specialise in one particular Premier league that suits their NT commitments, or lbecome full time t20 specialists specifically to make the T20 World Cup teams |
