QLD may cut loose symmonds.

brockley

International Captain
Symonds, who turns 34 next week, will arrive home in Brisbane early this morning where he will do his best to sidestep the waiting media throng before spending time with his friends and family to contemplate his future.

Symonds' international career has ended and the Queensland Bulls will not guarantee him a contract for next season - even if he does want to play state cricket.

Queensland selectors - who have been loyal to Symonds for over a decade - now have genuine reservations about picking him.

Considering they barely have any FC standard batsmen, why would they not pick a Test standard batsmen.

Because he doesn't want to be there. Even his Qld teammates, according to Robert Craddock, said so last summer. If he plays for Qld at all it will be in the shorter forms of the game only.

Come to the Redbacks then! His ability in the Big Ba$h, thus helping a team to make the CT, would be worth it alone.

Talk in today's papers that Queensland would look to impose conditions on him too, and that Symonds would have no interest in playing for them if that were the case.

Will be funny when his IPL team does the same thing.
Take drugs (Warne) - you're in

Take money from bookies (Warne & Gibbs) - more than welcome

Punch your team-mate (Harby) - right this way, sir

Have a beer away from the game - sorry, but we dont accept your type 8-)

I don't think South Africa would need him.
Hence 'most'.

And to be fair, you'd have to consider whether they would have wanted him either at his peak, or from the start of his career, not as he is now at the washed up end of his career.

By those criteria, considering the teams they've had since, say 2002:
England
WIs
NZ
SL
and prob. Pakistan
plus of course Zim and Bangers would have had a spot for him, or had him well and truly in the mix for the team.

That's seven of a possible nine = most.

SA and India are probably the only ones he clearly would not have been able to break into as a test player.

Not saying they should do so - it would indeed be contrary to their form (although wasn't Bhajji booted for the rest of the season for his action and Mohd Asif barred for drugs, just saying that he's being very cavalier, seemingly, in pissing away his national and possibly his first class career on the basis that he doesn't need to try and behave because he's got the IPL safety net. Would be funny, in an admittedly unkind way, if that safety net turned out to be less secure than he thought.

I don't think he could make it to SL test team unless he opens.

Warnapura, Vandort and Paranavithana are openers and former two average 45+ in the tests. At #3, #4, #5, you got Sangakkara, Jayawardane and Samaraweera who average 50 in test cricket. At #6, is DIlshan, and that is the only place he could break in, because they are similar players. Quick scorers although their methods differ, good fieldsmen and part time spinner. But with the form that Dilshan showed, it would be questionable. There on wards the keeper and the bowlers, which could only be replaced with alike player.

But for SL ODI team. Yesssss pleaaaase!

Seems qld welcommed him with welcome arms, graeme dixon met him at the airport.
He will lose his national contract, qld will be safe haven for him at least.
Stands what symmo wants to do i think it would benefit him to give away the 4 day stuff.
