The shorter Mongoose bat (MMi3) which you're talking about is aimed at 20/20 cricket, where we rarely see a backfoot defensive. For longer forms of the game there is the longer blade bat (CoR3) which has been used by Stuart Law and Lou Vincent in 50 over matches, Lou scored 140 last weekend with his in Premier League Cricket
