For CSK, only 4 batsmen have crossed 100, but what a job those 4 have done!!

Code:
Player Runs	BF SR RPO
ML Hayden	546	376 145.21 8.71
MS Dhoni	262	201 130.35 7.82
SK Raina	342	232 147.41 8.84
S Badrinath	172	154 111.69 6.70

Total of best 4	1322	963 137.28 8.24

Total of CSK	1667	1296 128.63 7.72

% 79%	74%
Way way brilliant RPO of 8.24 as compared to MI's 6.99. Again a good positive differential of 5 between runs made and balls consumed.

For DD, 6 batsmen have crossed 100 runs

Code:
Player Runs	BF SR RPO
AB de Villiers	326	244 133.61 8.02
TM Dilshan	296	235 125.96 7.56
KD Karthik	225	168 133.93 8.04
DA Warner	148	122 121.31 7.28
G Gambhir	204	208 98.08 5.88
V Sehwag	107	70 152.86 9.17

Top 6 1306	1047 124.74 7.48

Total DD	1445	1192 121.22 7.27

% 90%	88%
Again a good RR of 7.5 by the top 6, and a positive differential of 2. Gambhir has been a sore point otherwise DD batting has been brilliant.

It's not so much them getting one bad match as the chain of events on the way to that. Mortaza was the subject of a heated bidding war between SRK and Ness-Preity, and was picked up by SRK for a princely sum you don't associate with someone from Bangladesh. The USP of most Bangladeshi players, either here, or in these fantasy games, is that they come cheap and generate good value for money. Mortaza was exactly the opposite. He's not so much the failure as the whole idea behind bidding for him, then not playing him until now, and him having a terrible match.
haha, you must be kidding! Mortaza was picked up more to get in roads to B'desh supporters than purlely for his performance, while K11 wanted a pace bowler as Lee and Sreesant were to miss the early part of the tourney. they ended up picking Abdullah. if the circumstances had been different, Mortaza would have got much less. Don't forget that KKR picked up Ponting for $400K.You have to understand that there is more to bidding than performance expectations.

And as I said, Mortaza sitting on the bench or going for runs in the only game means little. Next game, he would do well so ....

Henderson was picked as backup for Watson, and Pathan would be second to him, batting below him like he did below Watson. They could have gone in with some good specialist batting options, but instead opted for him. He did well in the T20 matches in England before making the IPL team. With Watson missing more or less all of the IPL, and the impact that it eventually had on them, we'd expect Tyron to play a major part in the series. Then he had that one match and was sitting on the bench. If this is what happened, they shouldn't have bid for him in the first place and made statements about Yusuf wasting so many deliveries. Fair, they needed some proper specialist batsmen, but they made that other blooper of sending back Kaif.
Smith had recommended Tyron which is why RR got him [along with his good record]. I already explained how teams are composed so wouldn't go back on that. Again your point of making Tyron batting above Pathan having any significance totally ignores the fact how batting line ups are flexible. iirc, Pathan has even batted at 6 or 7 so that doesn't mean that those batting above him were more important. Flexibility in batting depends upon match, opposition, conditions and strategy .... tbf, I think your's are childish points

Agree with you on Kaif, he would have been useful!

There are these things that have happened-
  1. He was picked for a massive price.
  2. He was chased by Kolkata purely for the Bangla connection.
  3. Then he didn't play a single match until late in the tournament.
  4. That first match was a dreadful performance.
The blooper was not Mashrafe himself, but the whole chain of events around him.

That idea choosing Henderson over Yusuf was something I picked up in media reports, not my own idea. Then why did he get just a single game? My point is, just like the previous one, the chain of events was a collective blooper.

Today's bloopers-
  • Wilkin Mota batted ahead of Irfan, and struck at less than 70.
  • Deflection by Sangakkara could have been two, but RP's spill made it four.
  • Sangakkara may have spilled that stumping of Symonds, but the third umpire was very aggressive.
  • MAX showed a painful sight of an injured cheerleader, being treated with an icepack.
  • Yuvraj Singh calling on Wilkin Mota to bowl. And Rohit Sharma almost made history.
  • Brett Lee bowled a no-ball at a time when the match became close.
  • The last ball- running between wickets just went poof.

After yesterday's match, the DLF Maximum Sixes cheque was held by Niranjan Shah and (if I remember correctly) Jai Mehta, clearly on camera, upside down!

Second semi-final: Ravi Shastri says, "May I call upon the winning captain, Anil Kumble, I beg your pardon, Chennai Super Kings captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni". I haven't yet come across this elsewhere. Mandira's make-up and dress sense, however, get worse, and the cold weather has fixed half of that.

In the IPL, we find proper batsmen doing well, notably in the second season.
That isnt IPL. That is T20. People that watch have been saying this for years. After the first experimental season or two, it was clear quality players that adapt are far better value than sloggers.
