Home track bully XI

Furball

Evil Scotsman
Admittedly he had off the field problems, but I feel his away form slump was more to do with technical deficiencies.
His away record isn't helped by being dire in Australia, West Indies and New Zealand.

Pretty decent on the subcontinent though.

I did some research on fast bowlers some time ago and discovered that Pakistan's (Imran and Waqar if not Wasim Akram) had much better home than away records. This was not true for fast bowlers of other countries - the West Indians, Australians, Hadlee or Donald.

Wow, what a crap away record. Lol.

Waqar had a better home record than Wasim though.

Wasim (at home): 154 wickets @ 22.2, 51.1sr, 2.61eco.

When you're averaging 20-22 at home and 24-26 away then you are a pretty decent bowler! Ha ha

* Yes I'm a Waqar/Wasim fanboy but for good reason.

International 12th Man
MoYo appears to have a strong shout for a middle order slot.

Averages 65 at home and 49 away.
That 49 is bolstered greatly by 2006 and BD , WI, NZ, Zim and England (2006).

His averages on the tougher away tours are:
Australia 33
India 34
SA 26
SL 21

With some of the names popping up here I don't think the aim of having a team who can't win away will be reached. There are some very good cricketers.

Trescothicks away form "slump" isn't/wasn't completely down to talent though which is a shame since he was such a great attacking opener.

-----------------------------

Does anyone want to do a list of the statistics of the top spinners from the subcontinent (Kumble, Qadir, Harbhajan, Prassana, Chadrasekar, Bedi, Muralidharan etc and add whoever else you want) inside vs outside the subcontinent (not just tehir home country).

* I'm too lazy to do it myself tbph.
Yeah, whereas Hayden was a real stick in the mud who never took the bowling on.....

Trescothick - Home 51, Away 36.

Better option that Hayden IMO.

His lack of footwork for sure. I guess we'll never know how much his problems hindered his batting.

His record in Australia especially (which was in 2002-2003 long before his problems really got on top) is poor.

He did do well in the South Africa series before he Ashes 05 though from memory.
Was probably a vicious cycle, not scoring runs would have made his depression worse, which in turn would have affected his batting and so on.
His away record isn't helped by being dire in Australia, West Indies and New Zealand.

Pretty decent on the subcontinent though.
I'm not suggesting that Trescothick deserves to be denigrated for his mental health problems, but does it then also follow that Hayden must not get any credit for his mental toughness if we're comparing the two?
