Hi guys,

He has copped more brickbats than bouquets during his career so far, though not exactly without justification.

But the man deserves to be applauded for the quality of cricket that he is putting on show for the last few seasons on the field. Both with the ball and with the bat

Whatever be his shortcomings or perceived shortcomings off the field, the guy has stood up boldly and answered his critics, and in times of adversity has come good and has been one of the prime reasons behind India's resurgence in the last two years as both Test and ODI team. He has shown immense skills and improvisation in adapting to different formats of the game, whether it be tests, ODIs or 20-20s

And when the chips are down and the opposition breathing down the neck, there can be no more an irritating and encouraging, although from different viewpoints, sight as this chirpy gutsy cricketer teeing off a few with his wristy nonchalant batting.

Join the club. let's celebrate this much maligned yet brave cricketer.

Don't count me (yet), but your guy does have a sense of humor. From an interview today:

Q. What is the secret of the Indian bowlers’ improvement with the bat?

A: Tips. Sachin is there. He keeps telling us to play side on. Everyone has been helpful, except Viru. If Viru advises us, he’ll tell us to hit every ball for a six.
