***Official***Australian Domestic Season Thread 2009/2010

Round about now.
Last 2 rounds players playing for contracts, and its about this time rumours start.
Their was a rumour last week mark cosgrove could head to qld,sa are said to be keen to sign him again.
Mark sorrell said he undecided if sa will keep daniel cullen.
And i guess their is dave warner he said if he didn't play 4 day cricket this year he said he would move elsewhere, victoria we're very keen at the time.
I guess their are canberra comet and australian under 19 players up for a move.
Should be an interesting off season this year.
Victoria and new south wales would be keen to keep their juniors, the other states look to be buying especially west australia they seem to be in the market big time.

I don't see Victoria taking him with Rogers and Jewell for the 4 day games, but he would certainly add a bit to their One Day teams. However I would like to see NSW keep him, perhaps he should become a shorter form specialist?

If thats the case i don't see anything wrong with him playing in s africa or nz whilst he is not playing one dayers and T20's.
I think the vics were thinking more of the middle order as back up for hussey, white and mcdonald.

Yeah, Warner's always been a middle order batsman till this year. That's where he'd play in FC cricket, IMO.

Warner would be an awesome addition for the Vics imo. With at least 1 or 2 of White, Hussey and Macca missing for the next summer, he could be invaluable.

Along with Hodge's playing days nearing an end.

I agree Warner at the Vics would be an exciting prospect. I'm unsure if Victoria would make a big play for him though. Victoria already have a number of batting prospects who are only getting the chance to play when one of the big names is out. Warner shifting south of the border could result in just as exciting players such as Hill and Finch shifting interstate. I wouldn't say Warner is a better prospect than any of the younger Victorian batsmen, regardless of his international selection.

Warner's not actually an opener in proper cricket. Someone will probably sign him up with the intentions of batting him at 5 or 6 in their Shield team.

Edit: Beaten by Jack.

Warner could crack a first class game at durham just signed with them.
Maybe we should have the loans system like england has.

If Warner ends up with a CA contract he can choose which state he plays for.
