Please choose TWO opening batsmen for the Post WW2 - Pre Packer Era Dream Team from the list of 16 batsmen given below.

Note: I've included Gavaskar in the poll because he is, statistically, the best opener of the era. If he gets chosen we will have to replace him in one of the teams and bring the top runner-up in his place .

I went for Boycs and Hutton - a couple of cussed Yorkies always help

I didn't vote for Hutton because I love Boycott, but he should make it without a doubt. Middle order if he must.

Heart says Stolly and Fredericks because they were probably the two most aggressive openers, but head says Hutton/Boycott like most people.

I voted for Morris, for awhile he was a better batsman then anyone else in the world including DGB:)

Actually, if Gavaskar is already in the post-Packer team I would vote for Hutton and Simpson instead.
If Gavaskar is selected in both the teams, then special arrangements (separate votings) will be made to us to choose between Gavaskar pre-Packer and Gavaskar post-Packer...I think bagapath should mention the procedure clearly in this thread...And not mentioning it has become a potential reason for people to vote against him even if they feel he deserves a vote...Just like you, people are voting against Gavaskar because he has already been selected for the Post-Packer XI, which should not happen ideally...

Went for Boycott and Lawry. For some reason my eyes failed to see Sir Len!!!

Anyway, with my two opening, the other side will be so utterly bored to death that they'll slit their wrists, thereby forfeiting the match to the pre-Packer XI.

Voted for Hutton and Gavaskar. However, Barry Richards, who is not eligible because he did not play enough Test cricket, was almost certainly a greater batsman than either.

I went for Simpson and Hutton. But for some reason it shows that I voted for Simpson and not Hutton. Must have missed the tick.

Gavaskar and Hutton

btw, how many of you will fall asleep if a side had the top four like Gavaskar, Boycott, Dravid and Kallis :p

if gavaskar makes it to the team we will conduct a separate poll for choosing between the two gavaskar's - the pre and post post packer versions. the winner makes it to his repective team and the loser's runner up (greenidge or boycott/morris) makes it to the other team.
