Had a cheeky lol at him getting beaten up by prison inmates. Doesn't look like the sort that would take well to it.

But he will only be 160 when he gets out, where is the justice in that? Leaving him in jail untill he is 270 sents a clearer message!

Americans just love doing everything over the top.
Well AFAIK it's done for parole purposes sometimes (e.g you might be eligible for parole after 20% or 40% or whatever of your time served for certain offenses). Not sure though.

I was reading about he and Madoff last night and the authorities have a lot to answer for themselves.

For example, there is no way that Stanford could've operated in the way that he did without the assistance of at least 2 governments and a major Canadian bank.

Furthermore, the US was so convinced that he was dodgy that they forbade contact between government officials and him years before the **** hit the fan. Unfortunately, they didnt bother to tell Joe Public any of this until it was too late.

For their part, apparently the only DD that the ECB did was to check that his cheques didnt bounce

The other thing that stands out to me is that you'd have to be seriously deluded to think that you could get away with it forever.

Money laundering is one thing (and at least he was providing a service there) but simply stealing the vast majority of monies that came in the door must rank as an idea that "is so stupid that it just might work."
