Domestic Cricket Draft

I understand that. Im just not sure how it will work out.

Willing to give it a chance though.
I think you will find it will be very similar to the Mystery Draft. A lot of guys will go minnows first and some guys will go local players. The lever though is that there likely to be more players trying to pick local players from Australia and England, therefore not leaving us much quality and the fact that you can't pick specialist. Most guys have to play both forms.

Will be interesting to see how it works out in the end.

When your picking players can you indicate whether which country they are registered under and whether they are a local or overseas players.

Basically say Bradman (Australia/Local) if he was picked for NSW.

No way can that qualify imo, I reckon if a player hasnt played in or for the country or wasnt born there then it can't count.

Haha I get the feeling that Chaminda did this draft just so he could pick Katich as a Croatian. lol

Re: Katich

His parents are from Croatia and if he played another spot like Football he would have to make a choice between Australia and Croatia due to his parents. If you look at the Croatian national team in cricket majority qualify the same way as Katich. Parents are from Croatia, but they were born and bred in Australia.

As I said think outside the square.

thats pretty ordinary, in 99% of cases we dont know where players parents are born so it makes it a little unfair.
If you're going to use football as an example well you have dudded yourself because Katich has already played for Australia so that would make him ineligible to play for Croatia.

The thing though with Cricket is that you have play for one country and then play domestic cricket in another country under a 2nd passport. Mark Crosgrove is a recent example. If Croatia where part of the EU and Simon Katich got dropped from the Australian squad he could play county cricket in England as local due to his Croatian parents.

It is quite common thing in cricket these days especially in England

But he wouldn't be eligible for Croatia because he's played for Australia.

He'd have to have a Croatian passport in order for the Kolpak ruling to apply. His parents' nationality (whilst not entirely irrelevant) doesn't matter. It would depend solely on the legalities in Croatia as to whether or not he could get a Croatian passport through their place of birth - not to mention they may have renownced their citizenship in order to become Australian citizens.

Too many grey areas in allowing players like this, in my opinion. If a player has played for another country, you can't say he's from the country of his ancestry. I would give other examples, but don't want to give too much away, obviously.
