My lord. Had no idea he was even ill. RIP. The master of his field.

Been awful week for deaths, actually: John Updike, John Martyn & now Bearders. :(

RIP - TMS won't be the same.

Watching mastermind today they had a guy on who's specialist subject was the 1902 Ashes series. Frindall would have probably destroyed him. (They asked this guy a question about a mode of dismissal to which a number of batsmen were dismissed in a certain match and he said caught at the wicket, presenter said 'yes that's correct they were caught and bowled')

Really saddened by this news, I went to go and see himself and Marcus Berkmann at the Ilkley Literature Festival and he seemed like a really good, genuine guy who obviously was the best in his field.

RIP.

Oh my god. Was he ill for a long time? Because until recently that Ask Bearders column was alive and well...

Will miss him. What a gentle soul.

RIP

AFAIK he was missing certain minor series's because of his illness?

Props to him for eradicating the "Super Series" from his statistics, seemed like a top bloke, and part of the greatest cricketing insitution in TMS bar none.

really shocked by this

I heard that he went overseas, came back about 10 days ago thinking he had the flu, and then it just got worse. Shocking
