Point is Aus's success owes primarily to Hughes. But for him, one can say Aussies would have not won the series.

It's a team sport, he is our best player in that position and he did his role well. If he wasn't there Rogers or someone else might have made a double hundred in both innings.

your pathological hatred of the Australian cricket team is hilarious!8-)

Obviously bowling attack was good. But had Hughes not played those blinders, Aus could not dream of a chance of winning the series.
If if if. I could state the obvious, and say if Aus had bowled 6 more wicket taking balls in Perth on day 5 we would have won the home series.

Besides even if Hughes hadn't scored a run the entire series, Aus would still be 1-0 up imo (would have won at the Wanderers anyway). Possibly 1-1. Still with a huge hope of getting a result this game and winning the series.

Not having a backup batsman really looks like hurting us here. The selectors just can't get a squad right, whether we win or not, our batting is just too skinny in this game for an away test match IMO.

We have gone from extreme to extreme. White and McDonald playing as bowlers in the past two tours, to essentially having the bowlers starting at 7. McDonald's FC batting record isn't too bad, but he is one guy you would just never back to score much more than 50 in a test match.

Just thought about this, but in about 5 years time Australia are gonna have another mass exodus of retirements of almost 70% of the team. That will really screw us over.

It's sickening to think about, we'll have to be relying on guys like Marsh and White in tests which is absolutely wrong.

You're right, of course there'll be absolutely no new talent come along between now and then.

And you are Butters.

Why didn't the selectors fly a batsmen in if north was sick.poses the question why didn't we have any reserve batsmen.

Apart from a few fielding errors, SA were excellent whilst Oz were poor

SA should get 450 to put the game out of reach but the history between these 2 sides would indicate a few twists to come
