Weds Lightening Draft

Somerset

Cricketer Of The Year
Damn, there goes my wicket keeper of choice. With everyone else having selected a keeper (I'll presume that Walcott is being used by Chaminda), I'll leave my keeper until the final pick of the draft.

Dudley Nourse and Charlie Macartney.

May as well choose Macartney as my allrounder given I selected him in my other draft team.

I need a specialist #7 for my team so why not the best fielder of the era and a guy that averaged 50?

I pick Colin Bland

Hanif Mohammad for my final pick. Slightly gutted I didn't get Les Ames (was one pick away) but I guess thats the risk you take for leaving it too late to select your keeper!

So Hanif is keeping wickets for you then?

Somerset's Lightening Speed Draft XI

Geoffrey Boycott RHB, RM (8,114 runs @ 47.72, 7 wickets @ 54.57)
Herbert Sutcliffe RHB (4,555 runs @ 60.73)
Dudley Nourse RHB (2,960 runs @ 53.81)
Graeme Pollock LHB, LS (2,256 runs @ 60.97, 4 wickets @ 51.00)
Sir Frank Worrell RHB, SLA/LM (3,860 runs @ 49.48, 69 wickets @ 38.72)
Hanif Mohammad RHB, WK (3,915 runs @ 43.98)
Charlie Macartney RHB, SLA (2,131 runs @ 41.78, 45 wickets @ 27.55)
Wilfred Rhodes RHB, SLA (2,325 runs @ 30.19, 127 wickets @ 26.96)
George Lohmann RHB, RFM (213 runs @ 8.87, 112 wickets @ 10.75)
Fred Spofforth RHB, RF (217 runs @ 9.43, 94 wickets @ 18.41)
Sydney Barnes RHB, RFM (242 runs @ 8.06, 189 wickets @ 16.43)

With Boycott and Sutcliffe opening, I'm batting Hanif at number six. The bowling attack looks extremely dangerous, and the batting line-up certainly has a tough of class. Perhaps the only weakness is the lack of a really genuine allrounder in the form of a Sobers or Miller.

So Hanif is keeping wickets for you then?
Correct. :) He did wicket keep in three tests so I'm prepared to hand over the gloves to him. Besides, Barnes and Lohmann combined took 301 test wickets, including only 35 wicket keeper catches - so hes hardly going to be overworked based on that. :p

Tharmi, who was your pick before changing?

It isnt a big deal, but Im not in favor of changes as that player was not available when myself or Somerset picked. ie they were off the market. Doesnt matter though

I was going for Doug Walters and then Matt took him. Saw Dexter and went for him without thinking of where he would bat. Doesn't really fit anywhere without affecting someone else in the line up.
