I don't think David Warner has a Potential to be an international cricketer..

Can David Warner settle as an opener in australian team??

David Warner has the potential to be an opening batsman in the shorter forms for Australia. He isn't the best option, and should be made to score consistently over a period of time.
However, the one good thing that may come out of all this is the increased possibility of a County gig, which would give him more exposure and maybe some FC cricket. Although they're probably less likely to get sucked in by the publicity over in England...

There's no doubt that there is potential for him to settle as an opener.
However, I believe that shouldn't be any time soon.
Whilst he does have the raw ability, confidence, etc, there are definantly better options than him.
Also, whilst I was impresed with him in the Twenty20, I am still to be persuaded that he is a great player. You have young kids like Duminy, that you can tell will be stars, just because he has starred in most the matches he's played in on the International stage, Warner has starred in one of the three matches he has played.
All these people have been jumping on the 'Dave Warner bandwagon' after one innings, which could be said would be a bit of a lucky innings.
So yeah, he has the potential to be an Aussie opener in due time, not now.

Dave Warner clearly has potential and that really is not a debate at all imo, but its too early to push him into the Australian side, first let him play a full season of domestic cricket and few FC games and let him grow and mature as a batsman, this sudden rise to fame could prove to be too much to handle for the young bloke, and as luffy pointed out he has potential, but its still pretty raw atm, so when he plays regularly at the domestic level he would understand his game better, and would learn to work out an innings in different circumstances.

Now, as for Warner himself:
20/20's: Sure; who cares?
ODI's: Well, he has been in good form and since Australia appear to be short on ODI openers right now, he might be worth a look. Hell, he might even do well and settle in the side if his ODI performances are anything to go by.
Tests: Nada, at least not for the next few years.

Crazy for Chappell to even suggest Warner should be in Test consideration at such an early stage in his career. I'm sure down the line he may have a viable case for inclusion, providing he can prove his abilities in Sheffield Shield cricket. Far too soon for him to be seriously thought of as a replacement for Hayden.

However, there is another option. He's also left-handed and has the potential to dominate opposition bowlers. David Warner, the pocket dynamo from New South Wales has yet to play a first-class game, but in Twenty20 cricket he has displayed the potential to victimise international bowlers.
The selectors have now elevated him to the one-day side, but they also need to find out if he has the same effect on opponents in the longer version of the game. This means Warner should open for NSW in Sheffield Shield cricket, but they already have two openers. Also, both Jaques and Hughes are pushing their claims for a Test berth.
This creates a dilemma for the NSW selectors, but it's worth the aggravation to discover whether Warner really is a dynamic opener in all forms of the game. The selectors need to find out quickly so that Warner can be included in the England touring party if he succeeds in Shield cricket.
Hayden could intimidate bowlers with his skill, belligerent attitude and bulky frame. Warner doesn't have the build of Hayden, but as both Slater and Sehwag showed, it's not size that matters - it's packing a punch at the top of the order that really counts.

I thought Chappel's article was interesting as I had never thought of considering Slater in the same light as Hayden. But when you factor in the number of minnows Hayden has scored against and the quality of bowling he faced compared to what Slater faced, it's actually an interesting point.
That said, the article did go downhill after he started talking about Warner.
I suppose it's fashionable to jump on these "he's the next Bradman/McGrath/Akram" bandwagons and speculate what if, unfortunately, to the detriment of the player being compared who more often than not will not be able to live up to the expectations.

Yeah, loved his argument in favor of Slater. I believe Slater > Hayden.

I'd say it's unlikely still. With only the one (official) overseas player allowed nowadays counties tend to go for bankers rather than expensive tyros.
Might pick up a short-term contract as a 2020 specialist, however.
