This is a tough one. Basically Matt picked Sehwag one spot above where I wanted him. That threw my plan out a little (my own fault though).

Anyway, I need an opener. Do I take Langer or Kirsten with a great record and excellent average, do I take Gooch who has a good record and was capable of playing better than anyone else in the world on his day or do I pick someone who has a good record but it isnt great and can bowl some spin?

I dont like it but it has to be option c) Sanath Jayasuriya

TBH, rather than Crowe and Jayasuriya the first contingency plan was M. Clarke and Kirsten. I talked myself out of it.

    Desmond Haynes for me.

    Sehwag
    Haynes
    Ponting
    Border
    Waugh, S
    Gilchrist
    Greig
    Imran
    Pollock
    Roberts
    Lillee

Don't really have a proper spinner, but Sehwag, Greig and even Border can cover that between them, while my pace battery does it's job. Probably should have selected a specialist spinner rather than Greig as I don't need his batting that much, but wanted to do it this way.

EDIT: As I typed it I was thinking "someone already has Langer surely. No, COOL!" Haynes was going to be my selection before that revelation!

I'll try and run one round of a sim today. I was planning on single home and away games. Or would 3 Test series' between each team be preferable?

Off spin like Smith and to an equal standard. Sanath is a little better than both and turns it the other way.

Im very happy with 3 parttimers as Im not going to waste a spot on a fulltime spinner.

You'd really have Sir Viv batting at 6 below Crowe, MoYo and Dravid?

Yeah, I like him there for balance. Most of his innings were at 5 so 6 isnt too much difference.
