Surprised it took so long, thought after he comments on the IPL he would have been out sooner.

BCCI offically runs SLC. RIP Sri Lankan cricket.

It was fun while it lasted.

Yes blame BCCI for all the troubles of cricketing world, it is the ongoing trend.

There is more to story then just finances. If you have a close look at the guys that were sacked, most opposed the involvement of the BCCI in Sri Lankan cricket. All that is left now are the arse lickers.

Not actually blaming the BCCI directly, it is just the way things have been going for a while. If the ECB offer enough money to most of the guys on the board they would jump as well.

Ranatunga tried to use his the same approach(that he used as Captain ) in running the Cricket Board and it did not work out.

BCCI may be powerful and all but it has nothing to do with Arjuna's sacking. There were differences between Ranatunga and SL players over IPL vs. England tour and it has nothing to do with BCCI. It was the SL players who did not want to skip IPL.

As I mentioned before the BCCI weren't directly involved in any of this. But indirectly the Sports Minister/SLC took out anyone that was opposed to BCCI involvement in the game here.

Basically now we are in a position that if the BCCI want to they can basically control SL Cricket. But again that is not the BCCI fault, it is us that have put ourselves in that position.

BCCI wanted Rantunga out, as did some high profiled players. But it was us that went the extra step further and took out anyone that opposed their BCCI involvement.

The story here is really the other guys that got sacked not Ranatunga.

BCCI wanted Rantunga out
This I dont agree with. BCCI have been trying to help SLC despite Ranatunga's hostile statement towards IPL and BCCI in general. They were unhappy with Ranatunga and perhaps are happy that he is out but I dont think they directly or indirectly influenced the decision.

Ranatunga's own bull headed attitude was the cause of his downfall. He doesn't realize that Lankan Cricket has moved on from his era.

The players and majority of the board wanted him out as much as anyone else including the BCCI. Should read the whole post just not the bits about the BCCI.

Meh, good riddance to bad rubbish. Doesn't surprise me to see the BCCI copping the blame for the big headedness of Ranatunga. SLC can't manage their finances, blame the BCCI. SL cricketers not getting paid, blame the BCCI. Global warming, blame the BCCI.

It wasn't Ranatunga's fault that the BCCSL couldn't manage their finances, that happened before he came in.

You can't blame the BCCI for refusing to help while Ranatunga was in position as you're not going to offer to help an organisation whose head is constantly besmirching you. It's just disappointing Ranatunga didn't have the head on his shoulders to see if he could get the rescue package put through before getting on the wrong side of the BCCI, as I said it before that I genuinely believe he could potentially offer a fair bit to Lankan cricket as board chief.

By Lankan nature, though, he'll probably be back sometime, when Modi and Pawar are long gone.

Colombo: Sri Lanka is unlikely to tour Pakistan with authorities reconsidering the decision of sacked Cricket Board Chairman Arjuna Ranatunga to support India's stance of not touring that country following the recent terror attacks in Mumbai.

"We follow a pro-India policy. We know the circumstances in which the Indian tour to Pakistan was called off. The tour (of Sri Lanka to Pakistan) is unlikely," top sources told PTI.

When contacted, Sri Lankan Sports and Recreation Minister Gamini Lokuge said he would hold discussions with the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa on the issue.

"We are reconsidering the decisions taken by Arjuna Ranatunga," Lokuge said adding that the Foreign Ministry would also be consulted on the proposed tour.

Ranatunga, who was sacked as the SLC Chairman on Tuesday, had last week confirmed the cricket team's visit to Pakistan after the Bangladesh series.

"We have a duty as a friendly neighbour in the region to help Pakistan when it is needed most," the head of Sri Lanka Cricket, Ranatunga had said.

An SLC official said they agreed to take India's place and ask the hosts to scrap two Twenty20 games and turn them into one-day matches.

The Pakistan Cricket Board had sent an invitation to the Sri Lankans after the Indian government pulled the plug on its cricket team's tour of Pakistan, scheduled to start from January 4.

"Arjuna Ranatunga, the President of Sri Lankan Cricket Board has sent an answer in the affirmative to our invitation. We are now working out the final details of the series," Saleem Altaf, chief operating officer of the PCB, had said after the tour was confirmed by the SLC.

Altaf had last week also said in Karachi that Sri Lanka would be playing three Tests and three one-dayers besides taking on Pakistan in a Twenty20 game.

Would not surprise me if BCCI is involved in this somehow.

The isolation of Pakistan cricket is offical now.
