Cricket team draft

Clyde Walcott to keep wicket.
Interesting choice you have now - do you put the gloves on him and have a keeper-batsman who averaged 40 with the bat and was an average keeper, or make him a specialist batsman, at which he averaged 60?

TBF like Sangakkara he was better/more mature batsmen when he lost the gloves. Which had as much impact as losing the gloves. Average of 50 odd at least imo.

Haha, knew you'd take Kumar if he was still available! Was thinking about that after making my last choice and thinking about my next one. Gun choice.
Was hoping someone took so I could go with my head and go Flower. Was very 50/50 with Kallis though. Was always going to go with an all rounder but I thought I would back myself to get a gun enough bowling attack so the extra bowling other offered didn't effort his pick. Though he is underrated when it comes to all rounders.

Difficult decision, didn't know if I should go for a quick or a batter.

I ended up going for the batsman who I think has been the best in the past 20 years.

Sachin Tendulkar

It'll really depend on whether I get hold of another decent keeper towards the end of the draft.

As far as my understanding goes, the relatively lower batting average early on was unrelated to the keeping. If it were not for the back injury, we might have seen him keep wicket during his improved phase too.

Love how the top section of the selectors pick so quickly.

Sachin Tendulkar is a brilliant player, averages close to 55 and like I said arguably the best batter from the last quarter of a century, i.e since I've been alive. Nearly went for an old timer, but figured I should get a newer player than my first two selections Sobers and Trueman.

I made my pick because his batting was the Dogs Pollocks.

Seriously though, he's the greatest South African player of all time. I'm amazed that he was still available.

I'm not going to consider anyone who has played less than 30 Test Matches.

Realize players like Bond and G.Pollock won't be included but I'm not convinced that their averages wouldn't have dropped had they played more matches.

Given both Sangakkara and Walcott have just been taken, and my desire to secure a quality wicket keeper-batsman, I'm picking Andy Flower (initially had a couple of other players in mind).

I'm shocked that it took until round three before both players were selected, along with my second round selection of Headley. Sachin and Richards, arguably the best batsmen ever produced from India and South Africa respectably, and Headley named "the Black Bradman", does justice to his stature within the history of the game.

Damn you! Was just starting to dare hope he might slide as far as me.

Now for the traditional twenty hour wait for Raghav to pick a player... :@ :p

I'd have bet that by the time of my fourth selection, Flower and a couple of certain other quality wicket keepers (don't think I'm permitted to mention names of those yet to be picked) would be long gone, so pleased to secure Flower now.
