Martyn to NSW/Vic?

Andre

International Regular
Read this is today's paper:

West Australian Test cricketer Damien Martyn is looking for a new home in NSW or Victoria after a sudden split with his fiancee. The couple's wedding, scheduled for Melbourne in 3 weeks, was cancelled last week. A South Australian cricketer is in a very similar situation, having split form his wife after a recent stint in England.

This could be very interesting if Martyn moves to NSW or Victoria. NSW would be the complete unit, while Victoria need a quality bat to compliment Brad Hodge and Matthew Elliott. Gotta feel sorry for the bloke though :(

From what I can think of, the South Australian must be Blewett, who is finishing his time at Kent.

However, you have to feel really sorry for the guys :(

That's bad news for WA. You know, there are some problems in WA cricket right now, with Katich and Nicholson leaving, Hussey and Campbell threatening to leave, and now Marto.
New (old) coach Wayne Clark appears to be trying to mend some fences, as Hussey and campbell appear to be staying put, but ya gotta wonder what's going on..........

Yeah you are right, of course.
Mind you, it must be hard to maintain a relationship when one half is travelling the world on a regular basis.
Good luck to both of them.

this is pretty bad for WA, they are showed signs of going downhill for the last season or 2, loosing Martyn (although he would be playing little) is not good for the side. Vic need him more than NSW would anyway.
if it is Blewett who may leave SA that would be terrible, With Blewett and Flower SA can be a force again, but i doubt it without blewy.

"WA cricket heirarchy alienates experienced players and others threaten to leave!"

Gee, there's a headline I've hear quite a few times over the years. This is nothing new. The names Tom Moody, Wayne Andrews, Tim Zoehrer, Mike Veletta, Matt Nicholson and Simon Katich come readily to mind.

Wonder what it is over there? Is it something in the water or have they just have a succession of incompetant/mean adminstrators over the last 20 or so years??

Considering Marto's history with the WACA, I'd tell him to leave and leave now while he's still desirable to other states. He'll only get shafted, just like all the rest.

Wouldn't mind see him come to NSW and play for Easts cricket club. We can always do with another international walking around the joint ;)

At least he's probably got more brains than Greg Matthews - but at least he left for Sydney Uni! :)

NSW wont want him anyway, their team at full strength already looks like this:

1 Michael Slater
2 Simon Katich
3 Michael Bevan
4 Michael Clarke
5 Steve Waugh
6 Mark Waugh
7 Brad Haddin
8 Brett Lee
9 Matthew Nicholson
10 Stuart MacGill
11 Glenn McGrath

and thats able to leave out players like Nathan Bracken, Doug Bollinger, Don Nash, Phil Jaques and Greg Mail.
Simply no room for Marto.

well like most state teams around the world..how often are those players going to turn up for NSW?
I know Martyn is an international player..but NSW are only likely to have those players for around 20-30% of the season if that.

How can you not think Martyn would make it into the NSW team when he is a member of the AUstralian team. that is just plain redicolous.

It would be at the expense of either Bevan, Clarke or M. Waugh who are all non test players. Most probably M. Waugh.

Marto wont go.

Simple as that.

What has happened is that the WACA has aleinated both the members, the public and the team.

If that was there plan then mission accomplished!

of course he would the nsw side, but NSW wouldnt want him. they certainly wont be dropping mark waugh, imagine if clarke was told theres no room in the nsw side this weekend, he would instantly be looking for a new state. the blues dont want that. And bevan is one of the most proilfic batsmen in the country, he wont be getting dropped.
NSW simply dont need him and id be surprised if they make an approach to sign him.
