What a joke. Casson should have been on the tour. They gave Steve Waugh a walking stick for his 100th test, maybe they should give one to McGain for the tour.
AWTA, at least Casson has done something useful the last year. Krezja's actually done nothing.

Let's face it, as a debutant, Krezja will have done well if he maintains his fc average in tests

The problem is that his fc performances are abysmal

Stop stuffing around, get Symonds on a plane and include him, Watson, Clarke and Katich in the team to fill in behind Lee, Clark and Bollinger

I'm still of the belief that Krezja is much more likely to take wickets in India than Casson. On performance he shouldn't really be there but, in reality, none of them should. On pitches where finger spin is often a genuine attacking weapon, unlike the ones he bowls on in Australian domestic cricket, I think he could be a threat. Obviously he could just get absolutely belted but I think there's a smaller chance of that happening than had Casson been picked.

Yeah I think you might be right.

Either way I don't think he's much of a choice but I don't think Casson is the answer either.

Why do they need to have a 15 man squad for a home series?

Really surprised to see Ganguly being picked, i am not against him being picked, but if he was in the scheme of things for the selectors why didn't he play for the Rest of the India team, so virtually Tendulkar and Ganguly are going into the first test with no match practice at all.

Wow. Sharma not in, Tendulkar to 7 and Ganguly 4! Australia have this series in the bag.

Good start for the new selection committee. Chopra is unlucky yet again but eight specialist batsmen in a squad for a home series would be overkill. Good to see Mishra finally rewarded. RP Singh should do something to deserve continually being retained in the test squad, soon - Praveen Kumar is really starting to knock on the door.

Sharma has done barely anything in ODI's to deserve a place in the test squad IMO. He needs to back up his talent with some solid performences before he is to be considered in the test squad.

Look i don't having anything against McGain, he seems to be decent bowler and for leg-spinner he has got good control and all, but ffs the guy hardly has any FC experience, he might have played loads of club cricket but FC cricket experience is vital to succeed at the international level, and at 36 one can't expect him to develop into the answer of Australia's spin problems either, he might seem like a decent bet for this tour but tbh i would have rather prefered exposing Casson to the Indian conditions now, so that even if he would got whacked all over the park (which, mind you can easily happen to McGain too) he would atleast gained some experience which would have helped him develop as spinner in the longer run, but in McGain' case at the age of 36 you can't exactly say that, can you...., taking him to India when he was down with an injury and that too a shoulder injury was a piss-poor decision, so i am afraid the Aussie selectors have made a bit of a meal of it tbh.

I think he was taking about Ishant Sharma tbh, probably he didn't notice his name down in the list.

BTW, are the Australians sending over any replacement for McGain, or are they hoping he would be ready to play in the 2nd test.

From what I understand, anticipating him being ready for the 2nd Test.
Hoping for a 36 year old to fully recover from a frozen shoulder problem in time for the 2nd test and then be fit enough to bowl good amount of overs is expecting a bit too much in my book.
