Not correct. Ranchi (capital of Jharkhand) is where he lives and where his father went to find employment.

Dhoni is from Almora in the Kumaon Hills, of the Himalayan range. Situated at 5000 feet, Almora is a quaint place. MS Dhoni (son of Paan Singh Dhoni) is a Garhwali - Garwhal being the name of the region from where these mountain people originate.
