Man I couldn't blieve the nerve of the C4 producers :O

They actually had the bottle to go and ask the ECB if they could scrap the TEA break interval to stop the cricket over running (they also asked for play to start at 10:45 rather than 11:00)

Suprising the ECB told them to clear off to the TEA request saying that the cricketer's are human and need food and water and going from lunch to close was not on and to change a tradition they would need the ICC to approve it anyway.

There were a number of people really brassed off with C4 yesterday - notably Test Match Special. Apparently, as soon as the tv coverage ended, they turned all their toys off too.

I could just imagine Blowers storming up to the C4 studio and giving the producer a piece of his mind.
I made a point of leaving at 6 to go and record some stuff with my band, because I thought they would cut off the coverage...

When I saw him here in Shrewsbury he didn't mention either cakes or wine...just occasional references to being "smashed" in the non-cricketing sense.

Don't hold me to it, but I heard at one point the BBC wantted to try and get more top sport(s) back after losing so much over the years.

But Iam certain Sky will sanp it up, if C4 decided not to continue

Is it not a protected sport?

I thought at least some had to be shown each year?
marc71178 - President and founding member of AAAS - we don't only appreciate when he does well, but also when he's not quite so good!

Anyone want to join the Society?

Beware the evils of Kit-Kats - they're immoral apparently.

Only because the BBC and occasionally ITV show them, if the interist was not there then they wouldn't show them.

Small issue of UK Law here making it definite that they are shown terrestrially... hence the BBC being state-funded.

ITC Guidelines for Sport on Television

    Category A events
MUST be shown on free-to-air Terrestrial TV
    Olympic Games
    FIFA World Cup Finals Tournament
    FA Cup Final
Scottish FA Cup Final (in Scotland)
    Grand National
    The Derby
    Wimbledon Tennis Finals
    European Football Championship Finals Tournament
    Rugby League Challenge Cup Final
    Rugby World Cup Final

    Category B events
May be shown on Pay TV provided there is the potential for satisfactory secondary coverage on Terrestrial TV
Cricket Test Matches played in England
Non-finals play in the Wimbledon Tournament
Other matches in the Rugby World Cup Finals Tournament
Five Nations Rugby Tournament matches involving home countries
    Commonwealth Games
    World Athletics Championship
Cricket World Cup (final, semi-final and matches involving home nations)
    Ryder Cup
    Open Golf Championship

So Marc - Wimbledon isn't fully protected, nor is the Open, and nobody cares about the Boat Race.

I am highly concerned about Cricket's inclusion on List B - and given the BBC & C4's attitude to the World Cup highlights (i.e. no interest at all in showing them) - it could be a bit messy.

Test Cricket was removed from List A in June 1998. Oh, how I hate New Labour.
