ICC Test Championship

Frome Exile

Isn't it a little ironic that, having changed the format of the ICC Test Championship so that "every match result counts" and that "dead rubbers at the end of series are a thing of the past", the first series to be featured under the new format has been rendered a dead rubber entirely.

Under the old system, England would have had to at least draw the series to retain fifth place in the table.

Under the new format, no combination of individual match results can have any impact whatsoever on either team's position.

It will have an impact on the ranking points though won't it, and otherwise, England would've had to beat SA just to maintain their average.
