Stryis' text message attack on Mark Richardson

Haha Richardson rules. Styris can go and get ****ed. Biggest overreaction to what was barely criticism anyway.

How'd the media get hold of the content of the text messages, NZC or Richardson? Not sure what Styris was trying to achieve really, Richardson's now paid to give an opinion and he gave a reasonably valid one IMO.

I can't see how this all became public. Pretty ridiculous really.

Why would Richardson report a text message, ffs.
Surely if he wanted to keep it out of the public eye he would have talked to Styris about it, not gone and cried to NZC.

I'm quite surprised, even shocked. Seriously, Styris was a far more valuable player, but this was totally uncalled for. Can't say what effect this will have on New Zealand Cricket, who have lost so many of their best players over the years.

From a mate of Richardson's on another forum:

The tone of the texts were down right disgusting and frankly unbelievable from a senior member of a New Zealand team. If Styris thinks that's the way he and the team, can handle criticism (which wasn't sent on his NZ phone but on an English sim card and wouldn't identify himself when asked) then what a sad man he is.

If any of us received texts like that I'm sure we wouldn't stand for it either.

As far as Mark being considered a narc, he made the mistake of telling his Editor the story, then in true journalism, he ran the story against Mark's wishes. He had only wanted to go through Justin Vaughn and Heath Mills, the official channels, which he has.

The sooner Styris ****s off to another hemisphere the better.

Whilst what Styris did should not be condoned, it would be plain idiocy to kick Styris out for this given the current batting situation. The team comes first. Give him a reprimand or whatever but high-handed action at this stage in Styris's career could do the Black Caps more harm than good.
