Bloody bulls are playing a FR game in Cairns on the 18th, a week when I have a Sunday game and could have gone to the 'Gabba. Not happy Jan.

Doesn't appear to be any state trials this year.
I guess staright into the comp then.
Trials must cost too much these days.

I think we will be right up there with the bowling, but in terms of batting, we won't win. I know bowlers are what win matches, taking 20 wickets and all but if we can't get some runs on the board we are not going to get anywhere. The reason we won last season was Haddin and Katich carrying the batting. Now they are away on national duties, we need someone to step up in their place.

Harsh on us, I think we're better than SA & Queensland.
I think we are better than South Australia, but Queensland owns us this season. But a full strength New South Wales side can beat any other full strength side on their day, even if they under perform.

Thinking about this for a bowlers market. May or may not actually appear at work depending on whether or not I get the green light for it in case some of you actually want to put your money where your mouth is.

Noffke or Hilfenhaus at a flutter. Noffke will be right up there if he stays fit and keeps out of the Australian team. But then again if he takes wickets he'll probably make the CB squad. Harwood maybe slight value but it looks like a pretty good market.

Would have Noffke at about $5-6 myself.

Massive wtf at Thornely above Bailey, Smith and Doherty. FFS, they are specialist bowlers, and Thornely is a part timer.

If I had to make a bet, I would probably take Siddle as long as he is not in and around the Australian team. The only way for that to happen though is for Johnson to have a freakishly good tour of India, and some consistent performances in between, before our next tour, which IIRC is New Zealand touring here for a 2 match series. Otherwise, I would take Brett Geeves. He is an underrated bowler, who most likely won't get into the Australian team, despite getting the ODI against Bangladesh. In ODI's, I would put some money on Mark Cameron, he is good at picking up wickets in that form of the game, but I doubt he will even stay in the Pura Cup line up for a full season, due to not being able to bowl a consistent line and length for 5 days straight.

What happened to Ben Hilfenhaus last season ? I notice he never took 5 wickets in an innings once, and his overall Pura Cup record of 28 wickets @ 43.82 is well below par, for a bowler that seems to have some genuine potential.

That's not all that matters. Thornely is an established member of the side who can be expected to play every game. The others aren't. You don't take the most wickets by playing 2 FC games in a season. But at that end of the scale it's all academic anyway, I'd be making most guys hundreds if I was able to.

Well Thornely is going to be overtaken by any bowler who plays more than 5 matches in my opinion, so he is worthless even mentioning.

I would put some hard earned on Steve Magoffin at $10 personally.

I think Grant Sullivan and Andy Bichel should be listed somewhere in the markets and not as just any other player not listed.

I've removed the any other player option and listed Grant Sullivan at fifties.

Hope we can win a few games

Younis Kahn just needs to average 60 :)

So often we have at least one innings in a Sheffield Shield match where we are insipid! Hard to blame our bowlers for trying to defend 150-200 every match wouldn't rule out that we could finish bottom of both comps. No Elliot to save us in the one dayers anymore

Yup. So often in the first innings the collapse occurred too. Usually the sign of team disharmony which needs the motivation of being in the midst of a hammering and saving their own places to motivate them to score in the 2nd innings.

Teams like NSW specialise in putting big 1st inning totals on the board then suffocating the opposition. SA need to take the same attitude although this is hardly a new problem; been SA's problem for a couple of decades, probably.
