All Awards nominations to be sent to cwawards@cricketmail.net. PLEASE NOMINATE guys, we judges don’t read every thread and it’s easy to miss hugely worthy stuff.

Best Of The Best

The Shahid Afridi Award (Best post of the week)
Like an innings by the great man, it does not have to be very long to be great viewing.
And the Winner is: SJS for anything from this onwards. I cheated a bit here – Akhil has been rather busy once more so hasn’t been able to pick, so I’ve taken the easy option. Thanks SJS for taking the time and effort to put all of this from books into post form. :thumbup1:

The Shane Warne Award (Best thread of the week)
Like his bowling it must be interesting, but just like his private life it can also be controversial.
And the Winner is: cover drive man for this, a real mix of posts, but it kept evolving, as all good threads do.

The Skull Award (Funniest post of the week)
Just like the king of the one-liner Kerry O’Keefe, can also be serious.
And the Winner is: sideshowtim for this. Bloody cheeky Aussie bastards. Honourable mention, too, from Jason to GeraintIsMyHero for this.

The Garfield Sobers Award (Most varied poster of the week)
The true all-rounder of CW, you must be able to contribute to a number of threads.
And the Winner is: Craig, dunno what we’ve done this week to be lucky enough to have this fellow actually post in a load of CC threads, but long may it continue.

The Inzamam-ul-Haq Award (Vaguest posting of the week)
We are not sure what he is talking about, but we hope he knows.
And the Winner is: Beleg for this, think that’s what we usually call ITSTL.

The Sir Geoffrey Award (Most knowledgeable poster of the week)
We were going to call this the Richie Benaud award, but after speaking to Boycs, he assured us he knew twice as much as Richie.
And the Winner is: silentstriker, yes, it’s not the Afridi I know, but I’m sure he’ll be pleased. Good stuff, from the striker of silent stuff.

The Agarkar/Mohammed Award (“At least they’re trying” award)
Just like Ajit Agarkar and Dave Mohammed, they may not be quite good enough for any other award, but at least we remember them.
And the Winner is: Lord Flashart, just 25 posts so far, most of which came in January and the rest this week. Thinks SJS: "This guy is very good. Knows his stuff, has a wry sense of humour and is tellingly to-the-point. I hope he becomes a regular."

The Gatting-vs-Rana Award (Best debate of the week)
Who will ever forget Mike Gatting vs. Shakoor Rana in 1987/88? The best and worst “debate” ever (in equal measure) to grace the cricket World.
And the Winners are: Richard, GoT_SpIn, Top_Cat, Jono and Manee for this, good debate, and not too much name calling.

The Sajid Mahmood Award (Best rant of the week)
Following Saj's outburst after the Third Ashes Test 2006\07, and no Saj, we didn't know what you were doing out there either, it was a sad indictment on the quality of our reserves.
And the Winner is: Days of Grace for this, it may have been easy to forget now, but NZ were comfortably on top at this stage. Still something to moan about mind. :)

*NEW*
The Jeff Thomson Award (“Whooooooooosh”)
Thommo was both very quick and not very smart, so hence could conceivably have had plenty of things going over his head. He’s very fitting for a “whoooooooosh”.
And the Winner is: bond21 for this, a decent way for this new Award to start methinks... and Xavier does too.

Please remember, these Awards are not officially endorsed by CW management :)

The Wheel is Forever
Finally! I am honored that my man-crush on Geoff Boycott has been rewarded. I should have gotten the Warne, Bradman and the Sobers too, tbh.

Manee

Cricketer Of The Year
Cool - another award for me. I don't think the Gatting/Rana link is correct though.

Congratulations everyone, and my brother.
I take it the Jeff Thompson award was HDS' idea. (lol)

Norwood's on Fire
Reminds me of his "Richard's A Levels" post, which I think you link to in your sig

Nah. I would have named it after meself!

Richard should have earned the Jimmy Adams this week for his statement (along the lines of) "Crap performances in the past remain crap even though they are in the past" (apologies for the paraphrase, but I couldn't be arsed to track it down)

Hmm, actually had my third look back at the post in question, but still don't really think it Jimmy-worthy. My comments in my next post on the matter still stand.

I disagree. The wording is sooooo matter-of-fact. I laughed at the time (as I obviously knew what you meant) but it came out like you were stating the bleedin' obvious.

Anyway, not up to us, is it?

TBH, Sam (PF) isn't actually picking 'em yet, this upcoming week will be his first. So if a Jimmy were to have been picked this week, I'd have picked it. Mind, if he reads this thread and thinks it'd suit, I'll edit it in.
