New strategy to win matches in IPL

Harbhajan and Laxman have no experience as captains so it is not really surprising that they were not successful…..but then to judge success based on few 20/20 matches is also not appropriate. Ganguly and Dravid who have captaincy experience are also struggling....I think failure is more to do with players not able to gel together.

Actually Laxman has quite significant experience at captaining the Hyderabad team in the regular domestic circuit (Ranji,Hazare trophies etc).

Dont recall Yuvraj having any captaincy stints (even the U19 team of 2000, it was Kaif who captained) and certainly not Harbhajan.

Cameron White and David Hussey should be captaining their franchises if the teams want on field success, but the franchises are, understandably, worried about the bottom line. They're two of the most experienced players in the Twenty20 format.

Yeah and what experience has Hussey got as captain, apart from the odd game when White's been injuried for Vics. To select him ahead of some who has captained their country for a couple seasons would just be stupid. Also Hodge has more Twenty20 experience then Hussey anyway.

David Hussey captained Victoria with success when White and Hodge were unavailable, he was impressive.

Using your logic, why should Shane Warne captain Rajasthan Royals ahead of Graeme Smith? Smith captained Somerset to victory in England's Twenty20 competition and has many years of international captaincy experience.

Cus Shane Warne's a better captain and he available for all the games.

I can't see how Hussey is better captain then Ganguly, McCullum, Ponting, Gayle or even Tabiu. Would be a long way down the list of captaincy options for regardless of his experience in Twenty20 Cricket. But if your picking a player purely on Twenty20 experience then you would pick Hodge over Hussey. Ganguly has played a couple season of Twenty20 cricket as well for Glamorgan. He has a lot more experience in this format then people seem to recognise.

Really the Knight Riders problems have more to do with lack of quality domestic players when the Internationals fail not the captaincy. Or poor selection with Pujura and Yashpal Singh yet to get a game, even though they are a lot better then some of other domestic batsmen in the squad.
