It depends on the level, but bowler in my normal grade. Was an all-rounder for a bit, but then got stuck in the 'he bowls so he can't bat' mould and ended up either 11 or 12 usually. This season I played 4 games and batted twice at 11 (4* and 6*). I was hoping my not outs would get me a promotion, but we have a pretty strong line-up with the bat. Unfortunately they regularly fail to get 200

Am an all-rounder from 3rd grade down (would like to think in 2nd too), and was the same in the Devon B-Division

Im a natural bowler but a batsman that has worked hard on my game rather than having any gift.

Im out of my depth against quality bowlers but murder average ones. Its the difference between the very good and the average batsmen. I cant take the step up as a batsman.

Bowling hurts like a bitch and takes a massive amount of effort. Im not going to do that at a lower level (plus it isnt really fair).

So basicaly, I enjoy batting more and do a great job at a lower level but if Im to play at a higher level its because of my bowling as that is my primary skill. Im never going to get picked as a batsman at a good standard but I dont have to bowl to be effective at the lower level.

Make sense?

Yeah, makes perfect sense actually

Disappointed "specialist fielder" not an option, really.

Nominally a bowler, actually, but gash at both, frankly.

Similar to Goughy but for slightly different reasons really.

Worked my way through Grade cricket, shires and A-grade park crikcet as a bowler who batted at 11 or 12.

For the last couple of seasons playing lower level park cricket with mates, have gone through the last two seasons losing only two games (one of them a grand final) and working our way up the grades as a team...

Problem is that we have a battery of about 6/7 quality seamers meaning that by the time they are done the spinners (ie me) have got nothing to do... went from regularly bowling 20 overs a game to bowling a total of 25 overs for the last two seasons!

Basically been put in to open the batting or bat at 3 because i have a "technique" ... barely make any runs but man do i look good doing it

All Rounder, depends on the level of cricket really... played lower grades of cricket primarily as a batsman but have played 1st grade in Canberra as a bowler. Pretty much happy doing what I am now, batting number 5 and opening the bowling or coming on first change in 2nds...
