Are we doing this on form, or judging over a whole career?

Yeah was thinking the same thing myself just now.

Going for those available at the moment, based on their career, I'd have the following.

    Southern XI
    1. Matthew Hayden
    2. Graeme Smith
    3. Ricky Ponting
    4. Jacques Kallis (4)
    5. Stephen Fleming*
    6. Michael Hussey
    7. Mark Boucher+
    8. Daniel Vettori (5)
    9. Brett Lee (1)
    10. Stuart Clark (3)
    11. Makhaya Ntini (2)

    12th: Dale Steyn

    Northern XI
    1. Virendar Sehwag
    2. Alastair Cook
    3. Rahul Dravid
    4. Sachin Tendulkar
    5. Mohammad Yousuf
    6. Kumar Sangakkara+
    7. Andrew Flintoff (3)
    8. Chaminda Vaas (2)
    9. Anil Kumble (5)
    10. Muttiah Muralitharan (4)
    11. Shoaib Akhtar (1)

    12th: Matthew Hoggard

Hardest choice was the Northern openers. Sehwag, despite all his short comings, is better than most of the other candidates. In fact, most of the Northern openers at the moment either have only played few matches or have played most of them at home so you can't really make a good decision. Hence not selecting Vandort, for instance. Ignored Vaughan as a specialist opener, as well...
Flintoff in because of the two spinners. Couldn't decide between Hoggard and Vaas for a bit there, but Vaas's batting, left arm variation and slightly better record gets him in.

Southern XI should be fairly self explanatory.

And he used The Cricket Simulator which 8/10 favours the side batting 2nd.

It was done in June 2006 as a tsunami fundraiser.

And an Anzac side played the Lions in 1989. Put them away comfortably, I believe.
