England vs Australia, 5th Test 2005.

England wins the Ashes???? Seriously, wtf? That's a farce.

England vs. Pakistan, in Pakistan. Not sure what year it was but Nasser's England batted on into such bad light that no fieldsmen could see the ball. Thought that was a joke, myself.

The best farce was surely the 1992 World Cup Semi-Final between England and South Africa when poetic justice left South Africa needing 22 off 1 ball after a rain break.
(Poetic justice because they'd deliberately wasted time to ensure England didn't get their full overs and didn't set the huge total that they might have, in those days the innings just finished at the allotted time and South Africa deliberately only bowled 45 overs by slowing it down towards the end and denying England their natural end of innings accelleration.)

Surprised this one hasn't been mentioed yet - the 1981 Australia-NZ ODI when Trevor Chappell bowled the last ball underarm.(on his brother's orders of course)? Or on a similar vein, the 1979 B&H cup match when Somerset declared after 1 over?

Why did Somerset declare after one over? Scorecard/details?

Thanks. Very interesting read!

"The TCCB responded by calling an emergency meeting of its disciplinary committee. Eight days after the match, that committee voted to expel Somerset from the competition by 17 votes to one. Even Somerset supported the motion, with Derbyshire, for reasons known only to themselves, the sole opposition to it."

Lol @ Somerset supporting their expulsion from the comp.

Basically the Pakistanis were timewasting to a ridiculous extent, so the umpires responded by telling England that they were going to give them every chance to stay out there. Fair enough IMO, as without the Pakistan timewasting it would have been finshed in good light.

And if someone skied one to the outfield and it cracked a fielder who couldn't see the ball in the head and he died, how would you be thinking now? Or if a six was hit and a little girl in the crowd was poleaxed because she couldn't see it?

I don't give a **** about what happened. The dangerous outcomes it could've created make it a farce for mine.
