Wellington v Canterbury 4-day match starts this morning. Papps is back for the Cantabrians and will be looking to score some runs.

Why such a long gap in between games and why only one game played today?

Who is this Lonsdale bowling for Canterbury?

Willie lonsdale.. I think he was part of the under 19s this year or last. Canterburys attack with Anderson, Bennett and Lonsdale is pretty young,

At least they are being given a go huh.

Who out of the three are seen as good long term prospects for the Black Caps?

Bennett's been rubbish so far and Anderson is too young to really know for certain one way or the other (and in any case, his only success so far has come with the bat). Have never really heard anything about Lonsdale, besides the fact that he's young and also has a poor domestic record.

Shell Trophy
Shell Oil became principal sponsor in 1974-75 and a new trophy was introduced. Games were played over three days during this period, with an over-limit on the first innings. In latter years the format was experimented with, introducing a shorter second round, various bonus points systems, and eventually a knockout final.

does any one know about the limited overs in the first innings?

Wellington should dump Woodcock (Houghton has surely proved he's a better player so far this season) and Quarterman is a bit of a chump to say the least.

This Canterbury side bats all the way down - its a bit of an insult to see Brandon Hiini down at #9 when he batted so well last year.

Interestingly, has Myburgh got a golden duck in each first class game this year? Must be nearing some kind of record for an out-and-out batsman.

And to think he has an average of forty in SA domestic cricket. Who says our domestic comp is weak?:p

Interesting to hear the commentators say Matty Bell has finally stopped tinkering with his technique more than your average Michael Campbell and is now scoring big runs consistently which he never used to do. Heath have you seen him in action this season?
