Shane Watson's domestic OD bowling record is:

121-1-705-16. That means he averages 44.06, with a SR of 45.38 and econ of 5.83 (97.11 for you Aussies).

That's not even ordinary, it's just plain crap.

I wouldn't be in the queue to sign him for my county. In fact I wouldn't expect there to be a queue at all.
Oh didn't you hear that he's in the Aussie ODI team therefore he's automatically the best all-rounder in the world? ;)

If I was a county manager I'm not sure I could resist  :saint:

J.Kallis
S.Pollock

The list goes on before I would even consider signing Watson... I so know Kent will sign him now :( however I know what they are after so unless he changes his game quickly he won't be coming to Kent......

Hey just hold your horses there!!!!

A.Symonds, might well be that however he plays alot more controld for Kent and has scores a number of 50's and 100's for us and saved our butts a far few times... And his bowling is a handy stop filler while the super Saggers and Khan combo rest ;) :D

However I do feel it was time to have a new face at the club, we need a solid batsman however saying that now M.Fleming has retired Symonds will fill his shoes perfectly as both attack.

As for our second overseas player we were reportly after a Left Arm Fast bolwer to add varity and help bowl teams out in the 2nd inngs, however we have now signed Alamgir Sheriyar and he fits that bill to the dot....

Kent said they wouldn't sign a 2nd player for the sake of it, however with P.Nixon leaving I get this feeling a Wicket Keeper (please be Gilly) is being targeted, as just to throw a youngster in with hardly any match prtactice and to lose your main wicky who could have stayed for at least one season just incase Jonesy had a bad run, and to help him to develop over the season... Just seems stupid to me.

Kallis and pollock might be before him on your list but they would have to be very well paid for their services

andway, watson as im sure you have noticed has improved massivley with his bowling of late and these days i would rate him as good if not better than Kallis with the ball

i dont think gilly will be playing county, as he will be heaps tired after VB, World cup and then the WI tour, so i doubt he would play

Boucher would be a good signing though

Ok if you don't have the money then yes, but surly the team comes first, you wouldn't just sign a player because he was cheaper, you sign the player because they benfit the team.

Well Iam not going to say you are wrong as I've never seen him at domestic level, where his avg is alot better.... But quite frankly I've seen nothing that impressives me in the current VB Series, his bowling has been poor and only really taken wickets in the "slog" period at the end... He has had a few good inngs with the bat though (35 comes to mind)

Well your an Aussie so of course you would think that.

There are plenty of talented all-rounders. White ain't half bad either. And Flintoff is a far superior OD player to Watson.

I can wish :P ;) :D I would lobve to see him get stuck into the county bowlers (for Kent), and he could break the record for number of cars hit in the Kent car park (or the 2 near-by roads if he wishes) And iam sure he would have no trouble clearing the Lime Tree.

That's a mighty brave statment to make if iam understanding you right... In England alot (even non international's) would be better than Watson, they know the all the players and have experianced the conditions for a number of years. Also have experiance of playing around 64 days of cricket in less than 6 months, something Aussie cricketer's would take about 2-3 years to achieve back home.

also, having a look at watsons stats they are already improving

FC
Batting 38 ave
Bowling Ave 25 SR 41

OD
Batting ave 30 (35 in odi)
32 wickets @ 39 SR 44

his performances with the ball in the last couple of matches have been great

8 oevers 0/36
8 overs 2/36

thats 4.5 per over and thats quite acceptable in ODI's

well who in england is better than watson???

There's only one all rounder in the world, and it isn't Watson.

No other player is good enough to make his team as a specialist in either field (although Cairns is close, but that owes more to the NZ batting line up IMO)

I already said Craig White and Flintoff...Flintoff is currently a much more impressive ODI bowler than Watson. His batting I would class as better too. Watson's average in ODIs is boosted by Not Outs. Also for your comments about Watson improving, I will repeat an earlier comment I made, Watson has dropped 4 runs off his batting and added 2 on his bowling in just a few games this season in Aussie FC. That's not what I call an improvement...
