The Indian ODI side

Why does Sharma need to be in the side now though? He's 20 years old. His time will surely come. Ganguly surely does not have long left, but has performed admirably for a fair while now. He deserves to keep his place a little while longer IMO, then retire from ODIs when he feels the time is right.

yeah, but if Rohit can produce similar amount of runs as Ganguly, and offer more in the field, surely he should be considered?

Yes thats just about right. Although I think the selectors prefer Kaarthik to Sharma. I also feel we will need to have a better look at the elder Pathan. He may just solve the problem of a long tail or of having to play just four specialist bowlers.

Yeah.. he could be very handy with the bat lower down the order.. coming in for last 5 and 6 overs. He's strongly built and seems to have long hitting ability. Certainly could get 4 or 5 overs out of him.

Rohit Sharma is too good to be a sub IMHO...he seems to have great potential....he has to be in the side TBH.....in place of Ganguly!
Why? Yes, Sharma is a better fielder and scores his runs more quickly, but Ganguly has been consistently amongst the runs since his return, and done nothing to deserve being dropped.

Yes IMO. If, and only if, he can score as many runs as Ganguly should he be considered. I don't like teams picking an inferior batsman just because he is a better fielder.

He basically called our 3,4,5 almost a generation ago. :) And FWIW, I think he did not mean ODIs in his post, but I maybe wrong.
