Bring back Greg Chappell!

Or at least, get someone like Dean Jones or Eric Simmons or someone who'll bring in a kind of fitness-and-athleticism culture in the team. It may make the experience of the cricketers like a 9-to-5 job, but, that may be the case in world-beating teams.

About the advertisement, at least it's a serious one. Here's something I'd like to tell everyone here, who's been thinking about the ad. Mumbai Mirror (a small offshoot of the Times of India) asked some ad agencies to make their own ads for the position of coach of the Indian team.

All of them treated it as a joke. Some said, "Foreign origin is a contentious issue". Some said "Must be nice to the star players in the Indian team". One even went on to say- "for reference, ask Greg Chappell". Clearly, this shows that our country's ad agencies hate cricket, as the ads were far from helpful.

If I was in the BCCI I would add to that list "Must be able to improve the team's fielding -from pathetic to average!" I wonder how many aplications they'll get?

BCCI seem to have forgotten a couple of key conditions…

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
I. Should suck up to the 'star' players.
J. Should play Sachin's mate (Ajit Agarkar).

All sounds good. The coach is having a good deal of responsibility whilst working with the various committees. Not so sure about f) though.

Minimum of level three coaching is a given. b) is an interesting one but I assume that most of the contenders would have played at least a little bit of First Class cricket. Also, a lot of these things revolve around using technology - I didn't know India used it that much, interesting.

Two year appointment is good to show that after all this time, it is a long term coach being employed. I believe that b) and c) were to ensure that the whole Ford scenario does not occur again.

Are they? Or are they just Sanz messing around?

I'd guessed this was a yaju-style thread TBH.

india needs a bowling spacialist coach.. they are too late to sign alan donald but similar person would do the job.

And he seems to be doing quietly a pretty decent job.
Indeed he is, but I don't think an England tour is the best place to see if the bowling coach is doing their job since English conditions are very helpful compared to other countries.
