The AFL guys worked well in tandem. The guy who bowled first up, generated all the heat and bounce stuck Punter on the backfoot, then the McVeigh guy follows up with a delivery that Ponting really should be getting forward to but alas he gets bowled trying to play him off the backfoot. Top bowling…

    Rest easy mate.

    As a batsman, Punter is half-man, half-machine.

    Machines don't need practice.

    Just flick the on switch.

The thing that worried me most about Punter on the AFL footy show, was not his batting (because anyone who thinks anything can be taken from his batting form in a game of hit and giggle against some amateurs is downright dumb), but the fact that he said he's busy with cricket now but he'd love to do something with the Kangas "after a couple of years". This suggests to me he has retirement in mind....Oh god I hope not

Would you not like to see him retire at the top of his game rather than go on and have people remember what would otherwise have been seen as a magnificent career end-up being just an excellent one?

No, I'd rather him win us games of cricket for a longer time, even if it means that his stats aren't as good as they could be.

Agree with the above. A few little shortenings like that have taken off in the "Off Topic" section, and thus have started spreading over to Cricket Chat.

Surely if his stats become average, he's winning less games of cricket than he was (or someone else who might replace him might well be)?
