Zimbabwe are playing India A currently but cricinfo says that there is no match data available, does anyone have an update of the score or the team even?

India A ended the first day at 331 for 5, with Robin Uthappa leading the way with an explosive 88 and Parthiv Patel, Mohammad Kaif and Rohit Sharma all compiling solid half-centuries. Badrinath took charge for 62 on the second day and some big hitting from the tail took the total to 489. Zimbabwe Select reached 129 for 4 at the end of day two - Cricinfo has not mentioned the wicket-takers nor do they have a full scorecard available.

NOTE: It appears that Parthiv Patel is playing this match as a specialist batsman. Mahesh Rawat may be keeping on this occasion.

Zimbabwe Select 129 for 4 trail India A 489 by 350 runs

India A continued to dominate on the second day of their tour match against Zimbabwe Select at Harare Sports Club. At the close of play Zimbabwe Select had reached 129 for 4 in reply to the tourists' 489.

Resuming on 331 for 5, India struggled at first before making hay when Prosper Utseya turned to his spinners, with Subramaniam Badrinath (62) cutting lose in an otherwise turgid morning session which produced 70 runs.

Ed Rainsford struck three times after lunch, all to catches by Tatenda Taibu, the first, to remove Badrinath showing that he had lost little of his agility during his lengthy absence. India's last pair added to Zimbabwe's frustration as VRV Singh twice deposited Prosper Utseya over the media centre before Chris Mpofu finally ended the innings.

Zimbabwe started confidently, Hamilton Masakadza looking comfortable off both front and back foot, and by tea they had reached 31 for 0.

Tinotenda Mawoyo edged to Mohammed Kaif the slips soon after the resumption, and then Vusi Sibanda followed in identical fashion in the next over. Masakadza carried on with his attacking innings, this best shot being a big six off Rajesh Pawar, but it was Pawar who struck back to have him caught by Parthiv Patel at gully.

Taibu remained unbeaten at the close, but given the fragility and inexperience of those still to come in - even though this is virtually a full national side in all but name - it is hard to see where the runs will come from to enable Zimbabwe to avoid the follow-on tomorrow.

First game scorecard.

Disappointing performance. No one got even a century against the Zimbabwe attack.

As far as bowling goes:

1st inning:

IK Pathan 20 2 80 2 4.00 (11nb, 2w)

2nd inning:

IK Pathan 12 3 43 1 3.58 (4nb)

VRV Singh 19.4 5 24 2 1.22 (14nb)

Only Chawla making a notable contribution while Patel doing his chances for a future India recall no harm.

Not good for the two prospective pacers. Long tour ahead though with another game against Zimbabwe and a few against Kenya.

The ZCB is pathetic. How hard can it be to get a scorecard to Cricinfo?
I don't even think they bother with anything like that, last time I checked cricinfo had a lot of trouble in getting a reporter into the country.

I would think that India A should comfortably overcome Kenya and Zimbabwe, but if those players I mentioned put in good individual performances then it will do their national chances no harm.
OK someone's got to stand up for the underdogs. India "A" shouldn't expect to just turn up and rollover Kenya in the manner they have beaten Zimbabwe esp considering that they will be playing a full strength team. Sure a select team from Kenya did play in the Logan cup, finish last and then lose to Zimbabwe "A" but in 2005 a full strength team handed the Zims their backsides on a plate

The guy Cricinfo use is "Stephen Price"- it's not his real name, and ZC have expended a lot of energy trying to find out who it is, so they can shut him down. Chingoka thought it was John Ward, who used to run Cricinfo Zimbabwe (a very fine cricket writer). When Ward had to have his laptop serviced, Chingoka had it confiscated and examined the hard drive. He found no evidence that Ward was "Stephen Price", but he did find a lot of emails from people around the world criticising ZC, and he refused to give Ward's laptop back to him.

Prosper and Gary Brent had good spells today by the looks of it.

So dire.

Bad match overall, from the point of view of Indian prospects. The Indian team has been handicapped without Irfan Pathan, recent results notwithstanding, but Irfan has been struggling to score runs and take wickets. Hopefully he'll stay in all the matches, as the team needs him to return to form sooner than later. Mohammed Kaif was again short of runs, while extras and (just-out) teenagers are scoring heavily. He too is a key prospect in the ODI team, so it's not a good thing. It's good to see Chawla, Badrinath and Uthappa have a good game (Chawla may be a multiple man for the team, with Irfan out of form), but most of those who have thrashed this second XI of a minnow team (or less) don't create much value in the team and don't have a chance of making the national team. On present form, Kenya may give this team a tough chance, but the probable assignment against Sri Lanka A will be a lot tougher, and they need Kaif, Irfan and Rajesh Pawar to strike form.

There seems to be something wrong with Pathan, he went for four an over yesterday and it is not looking good. All that hype for nothing eh.
