Look not saying its impossible for Ponting to keep going like he has been doing in the past 2 years, but this is exactly what people were saying about Tendulkar in 1996-98. "If he keeps this up, he'll have every batting record in world cricket"

Age catches up to everyone.
Very happy with that one.

Unfortunately for us all, it's hard to be as awesome as Ponting was forever.

Average dropped almost 6 points, which is the bigger point IMO.

I reckon if you compared Dravid's average from 2007 to now it'd be a very similar story.

Yep, as I expected.

Ponting and Dravid's fall almost correspond in time as well. Around mid-to-late 2007.

Dravid basically since India's tour of England in 07.

Yeah it's uncanny how similar the test careers of Ponting and Dravid have been. Both their peak periods and their declines. Giving up the captaincy didn't really help Dravid's batting and it will be interesting to see if it helps Ponting.
