Football Style Cricket Leagues?

I've always wondered this,

Is there any chance cricket will have a Football Premiership style League in International or County Cricket in the future?

Barely any international matches and packed domestic schedules with players earning millions and scenarios like lancashire and surrey fighting to get someone like tendulkar, yousuf or akhtar off a county like worcestershire?

I hope not but you never know in todays world

Tours are a vital part of cricket IMO and I'd prefer it if it stayed that way.

i guess it will work only in 20/20 format and with specialised players - totally another thing that the official touring calendar. this considering financing the team (for a league format you have a lot of travelling), making good crowds at affordable costs/ticket and so on.
The sorts of what is cooking up in India lately (ICL).

It was talked about a few years ago with the abolishment of County Cricket and the move to City based teams (like Football) ie Manchester versus Leeds instead of Lancs vs Yorks but the idea didnt last long and the backers were never revelaed (as far as I know).

There is a lot of possibility in England for the CC to assume a more important global role though
