Teams of players all sharing a name.

International 12th Man
Either first or last, though I originally thought this topic up as players sharing a last name as that would be more challenging (at least I presume). So the most obvious team first up:

All Time 'Smith' Test XI

Greame Smith
(SA) - Captain
Devon Smith (WI)
Robin Smith (Eng)
Steve Smith (Aus)
Mike Smith (Eng)
Collie Smith (WI)
Dwayne Smith (WI)
Ian Smith (NZ) - Keeper
Peter Smith
(Eng)
Jim Smith (Eng)
Mike Smith
(Eng)

Well if I had to back that side I'd hope it'd be on a spinning wicket! Dwayne Smith as first change seamer doesn't exactly strike me as threatening. Decentish batting line-up though. Fairly deep and two class batsmen in Greame and Robin.

Can anyone construct a better team? I think that maybe a team of Singh's could be decent but other than that no idea.

Lol. It'd make for an entertaining "Mohammed Cup" or "Mohammed tri-series"
Well, actually, should be MOHAMMAD

554 results found for search mohammad, sorted by country then by player name
To go the whole hog, all umpires/match officials/commentators should also be Mohammad's.

Would have to be played at a ground named Mohammad.

(The only problem would be, shall we let the Mohammed's play?)

Not a great depth in batting nor too many great bowlers but what to do ? These are the only eleven Browns (Browne) that have played test cricket.

I know neither has played a test but Ali Brown and Dougie Brown might come into consideration too

Have 11 sikhs played international cricket? You should be able to get a Singh XI if you did. I can think of a number of them of the top of my head:

Robin Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Monty Panesar (Mudhsuden Singh), VRV Singh, Yuvraj Singh, RP Singh.... There must be some others, though the batting order looks a little weak!!

There have actually been heaps more Singhs who have played test cricket:
Yajurvindra Singh

Amar Singh
Gursharan Singh
Hanumant Singh
Harvinder Singh
AG Kripal Singh
Maninda Singh
AK Milkha Singh
K Rai Singh
Sarandeep Singh
Yograv Singh

Singhs v Smith's would be a great contest. Of course, myself, Voltman and dontcloseyoureyes would make the Smith team.

Amar Singh Ladha, Yograj Singh, Hanumant Singh and K Rai Singh in that lot are not Sikhs.

Eleven sikhs HAVE played for India but they do not make a very balanced side. After the top five you have six number elevens, almost.

Then there is no wicket keeper but no shortage of finger spinners.

These are

  1. Navjot Siddhu
  2. Gursharan Singh
  3. Milkha Singh
  4. Kripal Singh
  5. Lall Singh
  6. Harbhajan Singh
  7. Bishen Singh Bedi
  8. Sarandeep Singh
  9. Harvinder Singh
  10. Balvinder Singh Sandhu
  11. Maninder Singh.

I am not sure if VRV Singh is a Sikh. He might be.
