Very, hard to maintain interest when you have to hunt so hard for scorecards, I'm pretty sure that during this tournament last year, under the name Top End series, was covered by cricinfo.
The Top End Series contained full A teams from Australia, New Zealand, India and Pakistan though, whereas this is a bit of a mish-mash group of teams.

Hmm, I daresay that is why cricinfo aren't covering it. Still disappointing though.

New Zealand have kept up their 100% record thus far by beating both Australia and South Africa.

New Zealand A 216 (McCullum 38, How 37, Hopkins 34, Drew 2-34, Heal 2-41) beat Australia 196 (Hill 55) by 20 runs.

New Zealand A 168 (James Marshall 69, Grant Elliot 40, de Wet 5-23, Morne Morkel 3-18) beat South Africa Emerging Players 138 (Philander 48, JP Duminy 31, Bennett 3-48) by 30 runs.

South African coach Kepler Wessels - "If we negotiated the first 15 overs reasonably well that would have been good enough to win. The danger on this surface was if they bowled well we could lose early wickets and unfortunately we didn't show the skill or experience to get through those early overs."

Sunday’s game between Australia and South Africa was abandoned after only nine overs but New Zealand was still able to beat Karnataka comfortably by D/L.

New Zealand A 4 for 147 (Marshall 54) beat Karnataka State Cricket Association XI 150 (Patil 49) by six wickets on D/L

In today’s games New Zealand beat Australia in a close encounter whilst South Africa hammered Karnataka to the tune of 147 runs. New Zealand, unsurprisingly considering they have not lost a game are top of the table with South Africa second, followed by Australia and Karnataka, who are yet to win a game.

New Zealand A 8 for 250 (Broom 66) beat AIS 7 for 249 (Finch 64, Henriques 42) by two wickets

South Africa A 7 for 319 (Bodi 124, Peterson 90, JP Duminy 74) beat Karnataka XI 9 for 172 (Raghu 59, Abdullah 2-35) by 147 runs.

New Zealand’s unbeaten run came to an abrupt end today as they lost to South Africa by 242 runs.

South Africa A 6 for 323 (Botha 63*, Ontong 58, Peterson 47) beat New Zealand A 81 (Philander 5-18, De Wet 3-28) by 242 runs

And in the other game between AIS and Karnataka, the Indian State XI recorded a shock win beating the Australian academy side by eight wickets.

Karnataka State Cricket Association XI 2 for 190 (Raghu 76*) beat Australian Academy 8 for 189 (Bailey 49*, Raghu 3-16) by 8 wickets

South Africa with the crushing win have now qualified (alongside New Zealand) for this weekend’s final.

The aussies have had a really poor series, not a good intake of scholars this year, last year we made the final and won most our games.
Better make some changes for the academy squad for when they tour india i think.

Conclusion of the group stage…

South Africa A 3 for 190 (Bodi 86, du Plessis 62, Aaron Heal 2/35) beat AIS 9 for 189 (Ronchi 65, Botha 3/27, Abdullah 3/43) by 7 wickets

New Zealand A 278 (Broom 62) beat Karnataka 245 (Chipli 76) by 32 runs

New Zealand win the group stage, South Africa finish second, Australia third and unsurprisingly Karnataka come last.

Tomorrow’s finals:

Final 1: New Zealand v South Africa at Allan Border Field

Final 2: AIS v Karnataka State Association at Sandgate Redlands

Wonder who will replace the 3 suspended for the tour to india.
Noticed that some indian players have been playing for the academy.
Only phillip hughes and luke ronchi have impressed with the bat,as far as consistency.

I don't know if anyone else gets the same feeling, but Cosgrove strikes me as a lazy git. So much potential, and he could be a much better player if he put his mind to it. This latest incident is pathetic really, it doesn't exactly reflect well on him as a person either.

Cossie had a terrible series the 18 year old phillip hughes has been much better series and he is 18.
Cossie had a bad A series so last year to so known for not taking his opportunities.
I think cossies' top score this series was 22.

South Africa A won the Emerging Players Trophy for a second consecutive year with 82 run win over New Zealand A.

South Africa A 9 for 254(Philander 59, JP Duminy 50, Bodi 37, Nichol 3/36) beat New Zealand A 172 (McCullum 43, Philander 3/20, Abdullah 3/37, Botha 2/44, Morkel 1/13) by 82 runs

Good stuff from South Africa but considering the relative strengths of the other sides, anything but victory would have been a huge disappointment.

In the other 'final', AIS claimed third place with a two wicket win over Karnataka.

Disappointing for New Zealand A. That's twice now their batting has gone to pieces on a good track, which doesn't say much for the depth of batting talent in New Zealand Cricket. Still a decent tournament for our bowlers, especially James McMillan and Hamish Bennett who both picked up 8 wickets at under 21 a piece.

South African averages as composed by Supercricket. My tenuous criticism of Abdullah and Botha was highly misguided as they were two of the better performers. Batting from the likes of Kuhn and du Plessis was a disappointment but the bowling averages and economy rates for most bowlers was fantastic, especially from the seamers.

Batting
Philander- 141 runs @ 70, S/R 100
Bodi- 301 runs @ 60.20, S/R 72.53
Petersen- 270 runs @ 45, S/R 79.41
Duminy- 208 runs @ 41.60, S/R 104
Botha- 106 runs @ 35.33, S/R 95.49
de Plessis- 137 runs @ 27.40, S/R 70.25
Ontong- 102 runs @ 25.50, S/R 77.86
Tsolekile- 14 runs @ 14. S/R 73.68
Kuhn- 23 runs @ 5.75, S/R 34.84

Bowling
Philander- 13 wickets @ 9.15, E/R 2.43
de Wet- 10 wickets @ 12.80, E/R 3.22
Abdullah- 12 wickets@ 12.83, E/R 4.07
Morkel- 5 wickets @ 14.60, E/R 2.21
Botha- 8 wickets @ 20.50, E/R 3.81
Tsotsobe- 2 wickets @ 54, E/R 3.85
Tshabalala- 2 wickets @ 69.50, E/R 4.96

Yeah he did well, especially with the ball for his not long since comeback since a stress fracture and his performances in one day cricket with the ball haven’t typically been good.

Should be a shoe-in for the Zim one day series.
