Dravid ahead of Gibbs if its test match cricket I'd say. James Franklin definitely shouldn't be in the left-handed team.

Seems like Dravid is criminally underrated these days as well.

Or Gilly in LH XI - arguably Sangakkara in tests, but what about Gilly even as a batter? Surely Gilly > Ganguly even as a batter only?

    What you say?
I say there be no clear indication if this is ODIs or Tests (or Twenty20s ) What if a player bowled Right hand and batted left hand (Oram for example)

Its interesting to note there is a massive struggle to have two genuine RH openers for tests. Sachin certainly isnt one and neither is Gibbs IMO. Most great openers these days are leftys: Smith, Hayden, Langer, Cook, Tresco, Strauss, Gayle, Jayasuriya, etc etc
Sehwag but is horribly out of form, but there is no indication that this is a current form thread, so my openers would be Sehwag and Michael Vaughn who i believe was a great opener particularly in the '02, '03 time period.

Franklin out, Bracken in? or Pathan?

    Pollock out Warney in.

    My RH:
    Vaughn (c)
    Sehwag
    Ponting
    Dravid
    Kallis
    Pieterson
(Moin Khan!?) Boucher, or Alec Stewart (I hope he was right handed)
    Warne
    Bond
    McGrath
    Murali

    LH:
    Hayden
    Smith
    Sangakkara (wk)
    Hussey
    Lara
    Ganguly
    Vettori
    Pathan
    Akram (c)
    Vaas
    Bracken

LH has 5 bowlers because it is a weak point of their Xi, and also most of their bowlers can bat fairly good so that evens it up.

    Right Handers

    1. Sehwag
    2. Alec Stewart (keeper)
    3. Ponting
    4. Tendulkar
    5. Arvinda D'Silva
    6. Steve Waugh (captain)
    7. Flintoff
    8. Warne
    9. Gillespie
    10. Murali
    11. McGrath

I am not too happy with the opening slot but....

    Left Handers
    1. Hayden
    2. Langer
    3. Thorpe
    4. Lara
    5. Sangakarra (keeper)
    6. Andy Flower
    7. Jayasuriya
    8. Irfan Pathan
    9. Wasim Akram
    10. Vettori
    11. Vaas

Jayasuriya appears odd at nuber seven but he is in the side to fill the all rounder spot. I have taken Sangakarra as keeper as I think he is a better keeper then Gilchrist and a better test batsman. Andy Flower comes in purely on the strength of his batting.
