Oh god i hate that phrase to.

I hate it when commentators pigeon whole players all the time, for instance, have you ever heard a media person talk about Collingwood for longer than 15 seconds without saying he's a nudger and a nurdler? I don't care if it's true or not, just stfu please.

And in limited overs games when a slower ball gets hit for four in the latter stages and the commentators chastise him for trying to do too much variation when he should just be bowling yorkers.

People talking about Paul Nixon's 'attitude' and ignoring his actual performance on the field, i got bloody annoyed in the CB series when Nixon got loads of press space for doing worse than Read or Jones did in their careers. I don't care how much he talks in the middle, his performance should not be ignored just because he is a nice character.

The way commentators only have one abjective to describe poor fielding and over-throws- "Sloppy" and when it happens they act like it's the end of the world.

Nasser Hussain talking about a team's poor body language then the camera focusing in on fine leg as if to make the point, wtf is he meant to be doing? Starting a konga line in memory of his last over? Having good 'body language' is less important than how they're actualy bowling/batting/fielding yet it gets more air time than it should, Hussain thinks he's some bloody expert at it.

Ex players getting things just blatantly wrong, makes me want to cry in despair when Hussain names Vaughan as being in England's 'big 3' ODI players and when Micheal Slater said Strauss was a terrific batsman who the selectors must stop dropping and reselecting-Strauss at the time had just played 75 consecutive ODIs.

Worst post, two of the finest batsman of our era. Great stroke players.

Watching Dravid bat is one of the great pleasures of cricket. Has always bewildered me how people can consider him boring.

Just enquiring.. how long have you been watching cricket? Watching a batsman is not just about how he plays stroke after stroke. It is about the complete package.. how he hits the aggressive strokes, how solid his game is, how his defensive technique is, which balls he leaves and which he hits, how well he knows his off stump, how he negotiates difficult swinging, spinning conditions. Things like concentration, batting for hours without flinching or playing lose shots. He takes his guard very early, much earlier than so many batsmen. To concentrate from so early ball in and ball out is a sight to watch in itself. If you try and notice Dravid's batting more closely, you will love how superb his game is over all.

No, they don't entertain you.

Entertainment is a very personal thing. Me, all I look for is the beauty of the stroke.

For instance...
Atapattu > Jayasuriya. Though sadly their partnership is almost certainly a thing of the past. :(

Each to their own tbh. It doesn't bother me that people don't like watchig defensively minded players, instead of more attacking ones, it's just opinion in the end.

Nah.. it is just not right. Cricket is a game of many facets. If a guy goes to a porn movie and says he loved the porn, I would be okay with it. But if some one went to a great European classic film and says he loved only the nude scenes and the rest of it was boring, I would have to think that he is not understanding so many layers the film has. Cricket is so much more than just aggressive strokes.

I understand your point, and we are here to assume that he knows very little about cricket, then I'll agree with you.

That's a very, very interesting way of putting it, TBH. :thumbup1:

you are making cricket sound like porno movies here mate lol

i just like batsman's who are risky players. batsmans who take risks and a times have the ability to dominated the opposition's bowling. i don't see kallis and dravid doing that or haven't done in the past.
i am not the only one who thinks that way about kallies and Dravid. for instance, the opposition team wants kallis to come in to the crease early. they know if kallies comes in 5th or 6th overs, Sa would never be able to pass 250. here is the link of what Ricky pointing thinks of kallies and why he wants him in early.

again it is about point of views and opinions here. maybe u guys love to see Dravid and kallies and it is ur point of views and opinions and i respect that. i personally don't like to see them bat and it bores me. that is my point of views and it needs to be respected.

It is okay to like attacking players more than defensive players or vice versa. But to think Dravid is a boring batsman or that he is boring to watch is stretching it. Dravid is not a boring batsman by any stretch of imagination. So I cannot respect your view on the same.

I hate to say it, but that sounds very intolerant.
