How do you know how long someone else's finger would take to heal? 6 weeks (ie 3 test matches) is the par for broken bones I believe, though it depends entirely on the specifics of the case.

As for Jones, the Aussies weren't sliding on the ground in question, and I believe that is standard practise, suggesting there were other factors contributing, and not that Jones' technique was to blame.
