Flintoff is more explosive, and a better bet IMO, but doesn't seem to have discipline in his batting just yet. That's why I advocate batting him at 6 and telling him he's now a Test number 6batsman, so either he bats a bit more sensibly, or doesn't play.

Back to the topic about Vaughan...I remember this lovely quote from Mark Nicholas in the highlights from a Natwest Series match in the summer: "Michael Vaughan was justifying the need for a place in the side, he's too good a cricketer to be left out" Then he skys one and is dropped. Ok he scored 30 off 13 balls with one amazing chip over the boundary but he got out the next ball playing the same shot which he edged up in the air and was caught. Oh one of those increasingly regular Nicholas Chesnuts...

Yeah man, why get rid of a batsman when he happen 2 be the one of the few batters in the team who is capable of making some use of the bat???

He has a niggle of an injury, and they know what he can do already. Giving other players a chance whilst allowing him to recover (and also take a break) is good long term strategy for once!
