why is this final in the middle of the week ? this is the dumbest scheduling ever...people WORK from mon to friday in this country. FOX sports wont be getting many viewers either.

Could be a defining innings this for Phil Jaques in his push to get Langer's Test spot. After his recent form, i think the selectors will forget about how crap he played during the middle of the season. A big innings here and he could make it hard for Rogers to get the Test spot. No doubt County form will play a major role, but a big hundred here and he could have his foot in the door.

nah Hussey will replace Langer's spot and Hodge will probably come in at #4

Tigers strike back !

Total 6 wickets , 58.0 overs 171

Stumps Day 2

Tasmania 340
New South Wales 207/8 (70.0 ov)

New South Wales trail by 133 runs with 2 wickets remaining in the 1st innings

Fair effort from Tasmania so far, i expect them to play NSW out of the game tomorrow. Most of NSW batsmen failed to show up, like usually, but Tasmania kept plugging away and got most of batsmen out before they got going. Wright and Hilfenhaus were their best bowlers, with Jaques by far the best batsmen from NSW. Special mention for Butterworth too, he supported Hilfenhaus in particular really well.

Hilfenhaus  gun

Good innings from Jaques as well, showing he can bat whilst the pressure is on, NSW really needed him to go on though. Wrigth & Butterworth are both having a very good match with Bat & Ball.

the nest test is not until next october or november so it's more the start of the 07/08 pura that will determine his future...

Luke Butterworth has proved to be a rather handy bowler for tassy this season, 20 odd wickets @ 20 i think.

NSW will be needing a Jaques special if they're to win this

Butterworth is setting himself up nicely for the MOTM award. 66 in the 1st innings, then 4 wickets, and he's currently 75*, if tassy win, and he picks up another 3 in the 2nd innings i'd say he should be a shoo in.

Making it very tough here for NSW, Tasmania. Picking the extra all-rounder instead of a bowler looks to have paid off.

IMO they could only gain from it, Butterworth had 19 wickets @ 20 before the final. Add to that the fact that he could obviously hold his own with the bat, they had nothing to lose from it.

What a time to make your Maiden FC century in the final. Butterworth just out for a 106

Tassy leading by 450 now, 3 wickets in hand, Clingleffer 58* & Wright 2*

Jaques & Katich will have to produce something special if NSW are even going to come close imo.
