Ashok Thakur

Himachal Pradesh opening bowler Ashok Thakur has signed for Chudleigh (yes, the same place than inspired Harry Potter's Cannons) in the Devon League Premier Division.

Any thoughts... Arjun? Anyone?

He's had a decent season, winning the Plate league for Himachal. In seven FC matches, he took 21 wickets at an average of 14, but Sanjay Bangar, the one we know so much about, took 23 in six matches. He's been out of sight (virtually) in the ROD series, with just three wickets in as many matches, but at a good average. He's another left-arm seamer. At age 29, we don't expect him to be that tearaway pacer that the scene needs, but someone who can move the ball well. Maybe in the next season, when we see HP in the Elite league, I can get more on him.

If he can bowl with a reasonable pace on a fullish length then he should be a handful in Devon in May. Will be interesting to see how he fares... Chudleigh have their first pre-season against my prospective new club, Thorverton, in mid-April. Can't imagine for a second I'll be playing but I might get along and check it out.

When I first read this thread title I thought it was Neil's way of piss-taking out of the repeated "Simon Jones"; "Sajid Mahmood"; "Kumar Sangakkara"; "Graeme Hick"; "Nick Knight" etc. threads.

You're a lot more perceptive than the rest of us Dickinson.

Fingers crossed Neil's club has an epidemic and he has to bat 3 first game of the season, AND someone brings a video camera.

Well if Pickup were playing for us anymore I'd certainly bring my camera to the game if said prospect were in the offing...

Well... I was just saying if Mr. P was still playing for us (he's not - he's coaching for us and playing - when selected - for another club) then I'd take my camera (as I've got one, unlike so many) if Mr. Thakur was playing against us.

And I'd hide it while I was batting in case of being turned against it's owner...
