Haha, Rogers. Can't even make the WA one day side, so I doubt he'd make a second XI for Australia in the format.

Anyway, it also depends a lot on if you're talking about a true second XI - as in, a side who would take the field the current team all killed each other in a massive knife-fight - or a developing squad of fringe players likely to be selected in the future (which is what A teams typcially are..) If it was the former, the likes of Lehmann and Gillespie would be selected. Something like this I'd imagine

1. Phil Jaques
2. Simon Katich
3. Brad Hodge
4. Darren Lehmann
5. Adam Voges
6. Cameron White
7. Brad Haddin
8. Jason Gillespie
9. Stuart Clark
10. Ben Hilfenhaus
11. Shaun Tait

Put Rudolph up to open and insert JP Duminy in the middle order, I noticed Rudolph had been opening the innings for his franchise side.

Why would I drop Puttick? I rate him

and the old guys in the middle order, van Jaarsveld and Zander de Bruyn, have been in great form this season.

Duminy is definately unlucky to miss out (if it had one eye on youth he would be there) but so is Kemp, Zulu, Mclaren, Vaughn van Jaarsveld

I noted that JP Duminy is an exceptional talent and probably deserves a spot in the middle order, which would require dropping one of the middle order batsman, or putting Rudoplh in the opener's slot because that's where he has been playing this season.

Not the best sides ever, but not that bad really

List A

M Vandort
N Tharanga
M Warnapura
R Arnold
T Dilshan
C Kapugedera
J Silva (wk)
U Chandana
M Bandara
N Zoysa
A Ganegama

FC

M Vandort
N Tharanga
M Warnapura
R Arnold
T Samarawerra
T Dilshan
J Silva (wk)
M Bandara
M Suraj
N Zoysa
A Ganegama

Batting line up looks ok, but seam attack is a major worry.

Which only goes to confirm that there's nobody better waiting in the wings to replace the first team (although I'd have Read in the side still personally)

Benning maybe?
If you're right about that lot being our 2nd XI, then we're in real trouble, especially with the middle order batting. And surely Kabir Ali is completely out of the frame by now. James Kirtley would be a better bet.

Your right but the selectors are so stubborn and won't see it like that.TBH if he has a good county season the selectors knowing them will probably recall him.....
