I don't think there is much doubt that he will be in the squad - particularly if Watson is fit.

Whether he is in the best XI or not is yet to be seen, but I'm very confident of him making the squad.

Although Ponting does like to have 5 fast bowlers I think Brad Hogg will probably make the World Cup squad.

He'll make the squad easily. He may not make the first team because Johnson has been bowling so well. It's difficult to drop any of Lee, Bracken and McGrath, and playing five bowlers weakens the battning a bit. I think he and Johnson will rotate in and out of the team through the early stages, but he'll probably miss the knockout games.

Seriously though, he's not competing with White. He's competing with the other bowlers.

Hogg is a much better bowler than Andrew Symonds too. So because Symonds bowls spin, I'm going to make the ridiculous error of assuming he is in the side for his bowling, and make repeated annoying posts saying he should be dropped for Hogg.

As Fuller mentioned, he will compete with Johnson for the final spot.

Gilchrist, Hayden, Ponting, Watson, Symonds, Clarke, Hussey, Hogg, Lee, Bracken, McGrath is ideal. Bracken may miss out if the lack of swing in WI kicks in.

If Watson makes his way back into the squad Hogg's chances of playing improve alot.

Bracken is not going to miss out just because the ball doesn't swing. He's been Australia's best one day bowler in the last couple of years and his changes of pace will be key in the West Indies with there slow, low bounce

    My Predicted Australia WC X1
    Hayden
    Gilchrist
    Ponting
    Clarke
    Symonds
    Hussey
    Watson
    Lee
    Johnson
    Bracken
    McGrath

I imagine Hogg will probably rotate with Johnson over the course of the tournament.

No they dont really.White is in the team for his late order hitting not his bowling wether Watson plays is irrelevant.

It's not about White - it's about Watson. If Watson plays in place of either Hayden or White, it'll give Australia an extra fast bowling option. Hence the need to play four specialist quicks would be reduced, and Hogg would have a better chance of playing.

Watson should bat at 5 imo as he isnt really a blaster of the ball. He's a bit like Clarke he take his time to get going so i'd move Symonds and Hussey down to accellarate later in the innings.
