Wherefore art thou Rikki Clarke ?

What would have changed since the Champions Trophy though, considering he didn't play on that tour?

I think the reason he wasn't selected was simply the fact that he'd been there and done that as far as A-team tours were concerned and the experienced would do more for other candidates. Quite similar to the reasons that Key and Shah were left out.

He was only selected for the CT because of a plethora of injuries.

And even then, he should never, ever have come anywhere near ODI selection at any time because he's never, ever shown an aptitude for the one-day game with either bat or ball.

Surprised he's not in the A team, but he isn't good enough for ODIs as an all rounder. His ER is not good enough even in county cricket. Pity as he's a good fielder but that's not enough on its own.

Rikki Clarke is not a good enough bowler. It's as simple as that. He's a good batsmen at county level but his bowling average is nearly 41 in 4 day cricket and nearly 39 in one dayers so these stats show that although he might be a decent batsmen at international cricket his bowling is going to be cannon fodder. And with Andrew Flintoff and Jamie Dalrymple currently occuping the all rounders spot there's going to be no chance unless he has a great season with the ball next season.

His one-day batting-average of 25 inspires such confidence, too...

Be more accurate to say he's a good four-day batsman at county level and nought else.
