Ponting plays little cricket but that might just mean its hard to overtake him in the rankings....he has a sizeable lead. This is assuming we are going by ICC rankings for batting too, or are we just talking about # of runs/average?

I was thinking ICC rankings for the teams, but best ave for players. We would not consider someone who bowls 3 overs and claims 1-7 for instance:)

Ah just found this thread...interesting to see how my predictions went...

Test top four:

Australia
England
Pakistan
South Africa

Don't think that that's right at all tbh. Oz still on top, natch, but I think we ended the year 3rd or 4th...we're 5th atm so that was wrong, not too bad with SA, but Pakistan way off and no mention of Sri Lanka.

ODI Top four:

Australia
South Africa
India
Pakistan

Top two right...

WC Winners

South Africa

Top Test Batsman: Kevin Pietersen
Top ODI Batsman: Mike Hussey
